Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas is happy to present this 1965 Ford Mustang! The introduction of the Mustang in early 1964 created a new class of automobile called the pony car. The Mustang s styling, with its long hood and short deck, proved widely popular and inspired a host of imitators. This 1965 has undergone some serious work beginning around late 2012/early 2013. It sports a spunky 289 V-8 Engine, which has been bored to .30 over and is mated to an overhauled 3-spd transmission. This 289 has had many high-performance parts added to it, here s a list of the following upgrades: carburetor, intake, heads, headers, exhaust, & ignition. It also comes with an upgraded braking system, disk in the front, drums in the back, & has an aftermarket power brake booster installed Making sure this pony won t run away from you, if you ease up on the reigns and open it up on the road. Both the interior and parchment have been restored with reproduced/period correct Pony interior. For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is an early 1965 or 64 1/2 Ford Mustang. Making this an early 65 is the 260 V8 as opposed to the later 289. The 260 was a carryover from the outgoing Ford Falcon that the Mustang ended up replacing. Some will argue a car being a 64 1/2 or an early 65. This one does have some of the typical equipment found on an early 65 or 64 1/2. Such items include different door lock pulls, specific hub caps, different horn location, generator vs. an alternator, smaller Mustang emblems on the fenders and of course the 260 V8 just to name a few. This one is painted red over a black vinyl interior complimented with a white vinyl headliner. Inside youll notice a standard Mustang interior with one exception, an original Air Conditioning unit mounted beneath the dash. The power source under the hood is the mentioned F code 260 V8 that runs quite well and sends power through a 3 speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels. The serial number for this early Mustang is 7082. Still quite low considering almost 700,000 Mustangs were produced in 1965. For more information on this early 1965 Ford Mustang, call our St. Louis showroom at 618-271-3000 or swing by for an up close viewing. We are excited to offer this rotisserie restored 1965 Ford Mustang for sale at our Gateway Classic Cars Showroom in Saint Louis. If you are looking for a classic Mustang that is priced to sell and doesnt need anything done to it, you should give this one your full consideration. BACKGROUND: Ford manufactured the first-generation Ford Mustang from March 1964 until 1973. The introduction of the Mustang created a new class of automobile known as the pony car. The Mustang s styling, with its long hood and short deck, proved wildly popular and inspired a host of competition. It was initially introduced on April 17, 1964, as a hardtop and convertible with the fastback version put on sale in August 1964. At the time of its introduction, the Mustang, sharing its underpinnings with the Falcon, was slotted into a compact car segment. With each revision, the Mustang saw an increase in overall dimensions and engine power. The 1970 Ford Mustang was the last year before its dramatic redesign (source: Wikipedia). This 1965 Ford Mustang with a red exterior and a red/black interior enjoyed a rotisserie restoration in 2009, and the exterior still looks great and without any rust, scratches, or dents. The interior is also in good condition and lacks any stains or odors. As you can see in the pictures, the drivers seat does have some minor tears. The dash is clean and does have any tears, cracks, or fading. As evident from the video, the 289 CID and automatic transmission sounds great and transitions smoothly through its paces. Pertronix is installed in distributor but original dual point unit comes with car. Since photos were taken we have added for safety, new, correct Mustang side mirrors and seat belts. K-code solid lifter Mustangs constitute a small fraction of total production. They should not be taken lightly or confused with other 289 versions of lower horsepower. If anything we think the K cars are rated a bit on the low side. GT-350's were based on K-code Mustangs before being upgraded even more by Shelby. This car is hot, and a ball to drive. Some extra parts come with car from original owner as well. While we know the cars history from new, we did not get a lot of original paper work with the purchase. This is a car well worth the trip to come see it. Since photos Shipping and financing available.
