Mustang coupes represent one of the biggest bargains in the old car hobby today. Often living in the shadow of their convertible and fastback siblings, cars like this 1970 Ford Mustang Grade coupe offer the same performance, same handsome interior, and same street presence, all for less cash. Talk about a win-win situation! Refinished a few years ago, this slick pony is just more proof that theres no such thing as an ugly 1970 Mustang. Its wearing correct code 2 Light Ivy Yellow paint, which is how it came from the factory, and it still looks appealing today. From the wide-mouth grille to the sport mirrors to the traditional three-element taillights, this car is pure American fun from any angle. Finish work is extremely good, particularly for a car in this price class, and offers a high-visibility shine and excellent gaps, all of which make it stand out. Subtle details reveal themselves after you get acquainted, such as the Mustang script on the front fenders, blacked-out tail panel, and twin chrome tailpipes sticking out below the bumper. Add in a nicely done white vinyl roof, and you have a great-looking pony car that will be the center of attention but one that never seems to be trying too hard. High-back bucket seats anchor a nicely finished interior in the original code AG Ivy Green Houndstooth, which is extremely attractive. Coupes and fastbacks shared the same parts, and from behind the wheel its almost impossible to tell them apart. The deeply set gauges look sporty and in this car appear to be in completely original condition, and we believe the door panels are original equipment as well. The carpets and dash pad are in such good shape that they have to be fresh, and the woodgrained appliques on the doors and console are bright and crisp. Options include factory A/C (needs to be serviced) and an unusual AM/FM/8-track stereo in the dash. The trunk has been lined with sound-deadening materials so this Grande sounds suitably hushed inside, and a full-sized Magnum 500 wheel and matching BFG radial are a nice find. Performance is entertaining, too, especially when youre carrying a great-running 302 cubic inch V8. Rugged and easy to maintain, the 302 is a great choice and thanks to an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and intake manifold, theres plenty of performance on tap. Inside theres a mild street cam so it pulls hard but isnt fussy, and MSD supplied the coil and distributor to light it up. The engine bay is neatly detailed with a chrome air cleaner and Ford Racing aluminum valve covers and its nice to see details like original-style hose clamps, which suggest someone really cared. The transmission is a C4 3-speed automatic feeding a stock rear end with 3.00 gears inside, making this a low-stress cruiser. The exhaust system is very recently installed, including great-sounding mufflers and those cool chrome tips, and its impressively clean underneath. Handsome Magnum 500 wheels always look right and carry 225/60/14 BFGoodrich T/A radials all around. Neatly sorted and ready to enjoy, this high-visibility Mustang will get admiring glances anywhere it goes. Even more importantly, youll feel like a million bucks from behind the wheel. Call today!
Mustangs dont get much better than this 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 fastback. Aside from maybe a Boss or perhaps a Shelby, a Mach 1 is at the top of every collectors wish list. This one packs an M-code 351 Cleveland motor, a manual gearbox, a very unusual color combination, and a ton of documentation. Its already won a lot of awards, so maybe its time to put this A-list pony in your garage. Repainted recently, this very unusual code 2 New Lime Mach 1 fastback looks like a million bucks. Well, maybe not a million, but these have been inching up in value pretty much every year, indicating that there are more than a few collectors out there who appreciate their good looks and brilliant performance. The finish is rendered in modern urethane, which gives the stunning light green hue a depth that the original finish just couldnt match, and the satin black stripes with 351 callouts on the hood seem to hover above the surface. The panel work is quite good, and since it has already been driven you know you wont hurt it, which is a good thing since youll probably want to drive it every chance you get. The ribbed moldings along the rockers are crisp, and the rear window louvers and spoilers are the same satin black as the stripes, all of which give this Mach 1 a very predatory look, and yes, thats a hood tach which is one of the coolest accessories of all time. Inside youll find-what else?-Fords Comfort-Weave black bucket seats, and they fit the Mach 1 like a tailored suit. All the soft parts, including the seats, door panels, dash pad, and headliner have been restored, and new carpets finish the floors. The instruments show quite well and the woodgrained inserts on the dash, door panels, and center console are in good condition, giving this sporty Mustang a contrasting luxury feel inside. The original AM radio has been replaced by a modern AM/FM/cassette unit that still looks quite authentic, a nice touch that suggests that the restorers believed in originality. The gauges all work although the rim-blow steering wheel does not, which is common on these cars. Theres also a wood shift knob for the 3-speed manual gearbox, and youll be pleased by how easily it falls to hand and how naturally quick shifts happen. Open the deck lid and youll find the trunk offers a reproduction mat and a surprising amount of space, especially with the fold-down rear seat. Travelling is exactly what youll want to do once you hear that 351C under the hood bark to life. In the world of Fords, there are two versions of the 351 cubic inch small block, and the high-revving Cleveland is the one to own for performance. Restored to stock specs, the Ford Blue powerplant still wears its original air cleaner and stock valve covers, along with a 4-barrel carb. Other details are correct as well, including the hose clamps, decals, and the Ford Blue engine enamel. The aforementioned 3-speed powers the original 9-inch rear, which carries comfortable gears inside, making this a fine highway cruiser when youre not running hard. A fresh exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers sounds spectacular and it rides on a set of unusual 14-inch steel wheels with Deluxe wheel covers (yes, theyre hubcaps!) and 205/60/14 white letter radials. Documentation includes a Marti report, factory build sheet, owners manual and restoration photos, so you can buy this one with confidence. You simply wont find a nicer Mach 1 for less money anywhere. Documented Award Winning Mustang Boss 302 Shelby Dual Quad 4 Speed /// This 1970 Boss 302, equipped with rare Shelby dual-quad induction, is a fully documented, magazine-featured award winner thats considered the ultimate small block Mustang. If youre a prospecting enthusiast whos looking for long-term gains via a pristine example of one of the finest pony cars ever produced, this world class Ford is the classic youve been craving! Not too long ago, the cars solid body was the beneficiary of a thorough restoration that primed bare, mostly original metal for a correct and glossy coat of Bright Gold Metallic two-stage. Once that even pigment was buffed to an excellent shine, a full array of factory war paint tapped into an aggressive demeanor thats both classic and fitting. And today, the car sits as a revered collection of well-aligned panels and ridged character lines that presents a stunning, show worthy appearance. Never disassembled, and still churning to factory specifications, this Fords 302 cubic inch Windsor small block utilizes Cleveland-style heads, a race prepped crank, a solid lifter cam, heavy duty rods and forged pistons to create over 290 horsepower. Behind that motor, a wide-ratio 4-speed spins a correct Traction Lok differential around competent, road-ready gears. At the ends of that drivetrain, standard manual steering combines with power front disc and rear drum brakes to provide competent track capability. In the middle of the floors, a fresh true-dual exhaust system pipes roasted dinosaurs through an H-shaped crossover and thin, glasspack-style mufflers. And at the sides of that exhaust, mirrored Magnum 500s twist meaty 245/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As around galloping horse center caps. This professionally restored Boss is a documented, fully-sorted gem that drives and sounds every bit as good as it looks. Powerful pony cars with bold looks are always in style. But when a fire-breathing 450 hp V8 and an award-winning shine are wrapped around a classic 1970 droptop body, then you see this 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 351 Tribute is a true heart-stopper. There were yellows on the factory palette in 1970, but none were as vivid as this Screaming Yellow paint. It was part of this cars full restoration that was completed in 2016, and $10k was invested in the paint alone. Theres a metallic element in the yellow, and nine coats of clear on top. It creates such a great shine that they took this to SEMA in 2017, and it brought home a Mothers shine award. With less than 1,100 miles on this whole build, you know it still retains an award-worthy finish. More than just the bright paint, this one has a terrific dark side with the full Boss stripe package that was cleared over with the rest of the car (so sunlight moves evenly across this sunshine-friendly droptop.) You even get added aggression with the hood scoop, rear spoiler, and 16-inch Mag wheels with pony center caps. All the black accents on the outside make this one look great with the black convertible roof in place. But with the touch of a button, it powers down to reveal an even more impressive black interior. The seats, door panels, carpeting, and dash have had any decades of use erased, and so this is clean and comfortable. Even the trunk is nicely finished. Youre also going to get some terrific upgrades. They have all been tastefully added, like the retro-style AM/FM radio that has a digital tuner and an aux input for your iPod. The wood and chrome sports steering wheel doesnt look out of place thanks to the Mustang pony center cap, and beyond that, the original gauge panel now is full of crisp Dakota Digital readouts. While this one has 351 callouts on the side, thats a bit of a fib. This is a newer Ford Performance crate motor, and while they use the 351 block, they also can now deliver it from the factory with a monstrous 427 displacement. This one also includes Ford aluminum X-heads and topped with a four-barrel carburetor. Its rated at 450 horsepower, and the growl it makes from the dual exhaust lets everyone know it can eat the big blocks for lunch. As you look at everything to the pulleys to the aluminum radiator w/electric fan, you see that this big power machine has all the right supporting components. The motor is mated to a 4R70W four-speed automatic transmission, which is great for overdrive cruising and also has a stout construction to be used in plenty of Fords big V8 machines. The same versatility goes for the Detroit Truetrac limited-slip rear end. Plus, with electronic power steering, sway bars front & rear, and four-wheel disc brakes, this droptop really knows how to own the streets. The sale comes complete with restoration photos, owners manual, and build receipts. It all proves that this is the powerful and beautiful classic Mustang convertible you want to take home right now. For sale is this beautiful 1970 Ford Mustang Convertible is in our Louisville showroom. This 70 Convertible Stang has a few upgrades. The original engine has been replaced with 5.0 Liter engine from a 1995 Mustang GT. The engine is what is known as a roller block, because the lifters have small wheels that contact the cam. This reduces the amount of friction, which reduces wear to increase longevity. Less friction also leads to more horsepower. The 1995 GT also gave up it 4-speed automatic transmission, which leads to quicker take offs, while 4th gear allows for lower RPM while cruising the highway. The rear end is a Ford 9-inch piece which makes this drive train rock solid. The black vinyl interior looks to be in excellent shape with no rip or tears. The black top looks to be in great shape. Gateway Classic Cars is proud to offer this striking blue 1970 Ford Mustang Coupe for sale at our Gateway Classic Cars Showroom in Saint Louis. This classic is ready to drive and show-off immediately. It is also priced to sell. BACKGROUND: The first-generation Ford Mustang was manufactured by Ford from March 1964 until 1973. The introduction of the Mustang created a new class of automobile known as the pony car. The Mustang s styling, with its long hood and short deck, proved wildly popular and inspired a host of competition. It was initially introduced on April 17, 1964, as a hardtop and convertible with the fastback version put on sale in August 1964. At the time of its introduction, the Mustang, sharing its underpinnings with the Falcon, was slotted into a compact car segment. With each revision, the Mustang saw an increase in overall dimensions and engine power. The 1970 Ford Mustang was the last year before its dramatic redesign (source: Wikipedia). This particular 1970 Ford Mustang, originally built in San Jose, California, is now powered by a 351 Windsor (410 HP) with a C4 3 speed automatic transmission. Underneath the hood, youll also find a Holly 4-barrel Edelbrock headers and a dual Magnaflow exhaust. Stopping your American racing wheels (225/50/17 front and 245/50/17 rear) going over the edge are front disc and rear drum brakes. Getting you to where you need to be is assisted by a smooth turning power steering and a B&M Z-gate shifter. This real deal 1970 Ford mustang Mach 1 is available in our Louisville KY showroom. The Mach 1 name was introduced to the Mustang line up due to the fact GT wasn t a name that reflected images of tire screeching performance. The package could be added to any v8 sport roof aka fastback. It added numerous visual touches such as the matte black hood with a scoop or even a shaker hood. The rear window louvers are what most people will recall and are a very 60 s era look. This example really shouts out the package with white body having a great contrast against all that matte black. Under the hood is the original 351 4Vengine which was the one to get out of the 2 351 options or also known as the m code. Backed up by the FMX cruise o matic this Mach 1 is guaranteed to shift thru those gears with ease. The 3.00 standard axle is the perfect combination of low end grint and top end pull. With the A/C option from the factory this is one of th rare Mach 1 s that gave up some of the performance for a little bit of luxury. If you have been wanting to get you hands on a great looking Mach 1 with one of the sought after m code engines this white example is the one for you.
