The Fox Mustangs are more than 40 years old now. Im going to let that sink in while you look at how clean this 1988 Mustang LX 5.0 hatchback still looks. Basic black paint gives it a low-profile and serious attitude, while a bone-stock 5.0 provides plenty of old-school V8 motivation. Affordable fun, that has always been the Mustangs mantra, and this very reasonably-priced hatchback delivers. The clean lines made the LX somewhat of a sleeper in the early 90s, but everyone knew to look for the 5.0 badges and the twin polished tailpipes out back. Today these are still able to slip under the radar and the clean, unadorned lines of the LX look as good as ever. The black paint job was done sometime in the 90s and could almost pass for original today, showing some age and wear commensurate with its age and mileage. There are no indications that this car has been raced, wrecked, or otherwise mistreated, with doors that close easily and great panel alignment throughout, reinforcing the idea that someone took pretty good care of this car. The infamous 5.0 badges remain in place on the front fenders, so its got the right look, and they kept the stock bumpers and rear spoiler, suggesting that the guy who owned this car understood restraint. If youre looking for a car to upgrade or turn into something amazing, this is what you want to start with. And even as it sits, its probably more fun per dollar than anything else weve got! The gray interior is in fair shape, offering stock bucket seats covered in Fords ubiquitous mouse fur upholstery. The drivers seat has a pretty big tear and some discoloration, but the other seats are in good shape and seat covers are cheap and easy to get. The door panels, center console, and the rear seat are all quite nice, and even the headliner remains taut. Fords fat steering wheel feels great in your hands, and the relatively upright greenhouse makes the Mustang very user-friendly in traffic, where its the ultimate point-and-shoot machine. The original gauges are all fully operational and the A/C blows ice cold, so this is a car you can still drive every day. Other options include power windows and locks, cruise control, AM/FM/cassette stereo, and power mirrors, making this a fairly loaded LX. With rear seats that fold down, cargo capacity is impressive and the trunk area shows only minor wear despite being 30 years old. Even the original cargo cover is still in great shape! The venerable 5.0-liter V8 under the hood was the go-to powerplant in the 1990s and it remains fast and fun today. The hard part is finding one that hasnt been modified, raced, and abused, but this one appears to be almost entirely stock. Still wearing its original intake manifold, throttle body, and even the stock valve covers, its one of those untouched cars that just seems to run and drive better than most. On paper, 225 horsepower and 300 pounds of torque dont sound amazing to us today, but in reality, this is still a very fast car that has few peers on the street. Thanks to the quick-shifting AOD 4-speed automatic transmission, it snaps through traffic with real authority, and the original 8.8-inch rear end has 2.73 gears inside so its awesome on the highway. 15-inch phone dial aluminum wheels look great on the Fox body and carry 225/60/15 performance radials that give it the right Mustang stance. Still fast and still fun after all these years, this is the kind of 5.0 Mustang that turned us all into car guys. Call today!
This 1988 Ford Mustang GT Convertible looks as if it were teleported in time directly from its late 80s origin to the present. It really looks sharp and remains in period correct configuration, so its one seriously authentic representative of the Mustangs third generation. On top of that its running great, so therell be no need to restrict your enjoyment to brief weekend outings - its very much up to the challenges of frequent driving. Its simply a great looking vintage ride. Its white paint is original - not just the color but the actual paint - and it presents very well with a nice shine, and the contrasting trim that encircles the body is still sharp. All of the badging it began life with is present and in good form and the black trim framing the windshield, as well as the side mirrors, still has its deep black color. By virtue of its GT status, it wears an aero package to equip it with an enhanced front fascia and stylish yet subtle ground effects with scoops in front of the wheels in both front and back. The exterior alignment looks nice and precise - the body panels blend together well and the doors, hood and deck lid all open and close smoothly. That luggage rack sitting over the deck lid in back reinforces the notion that this Pony is ready to hit the road and provide future memories of open air driving fun. Should the skies darken during that time, theres a power white convertible top standing by underneath its well-fitted boot to levitate into place for protection and it sports a clear glass rear window, so its resistant to UV exposure and unlikely to fade anytime soon. The white interior has withstood the years well. The tall white bucket seats up front and bench seat in back dont show much wear at all nor the marked discoloration you often see in white upholstery. Just as with the exterior, everything inside has been faithfully kept in its factory configuration and has obviously been carefully sheltered during its lifetime. The dash area is clean and straight, with the factory gauges in its instrument cluster all functioning just as intended and an AM/FM/Cassette ready to provide its era-appropriate technology to your audio experience. This GT came along at a time when air conditioning was becoming a bit more common in convertibles - its plumbed and equipped and will need just a simple freon charge to get it back online. Additional comfort features include a tilting column and power windows and door locks. That same strict adherence to stock configuration - with just one welcome exception - carries through under the hood, where an electronically fuel injected 5.0 liter V8 resides to power this drop top. The engine starts right up and is running very smoothly and now exhales into a pair of headers to reduce backpressure - a nice upgrade that pays dividends in the form of increased acceleration. The featured 4 speed automatic transmission is also period correct and shifts smoothly, with its overdrive gear coming in very handy to keep RPMs nice and low at highway speeds. Both power steering and power brakes are also on board, so navigating and stopping comes easy when this classic convertible takes to the asphalt on its set of 16 Pony wheels outfitted with Fuzion tires. You dont find many cars of its era sporting such a vital, fresh appearance - and its sheer authenticity and smooth running power make this 1988 Ford Mustang GT Convertible an even rarer find. One-Owner 1,083 mile ASC/McLaren Convertible 5.0L V8 5spd Manual A/C 1 of 68 /// The story of this pristine drop-top, 1 of only 68 1988 ASC/McLarens produced in Sterling Silver and Gray, begins with a passionate collector who specializes in long-term investments. While purchasing a Buick Grand National to preserve and someday sell, the collector expressed a bit of concern about the cars large 10,000-unit production run. Thats when his friend told him about the ASC/McLaren Mustang. After a little searching, the collector, located in Georgia, found a Tennessee dealership that was willing to deal. And, after being trucked to Atlanta, this Mustang joined his 9-car arsenal in climate-controlled storage. Recently, as ASC/McLarens started gaining prominence, the collector changed his routine of uncovering and idling the car to actually driving the car. Warm receptions at parades and cruise-ins led to two appearances at the Mustang Club of America Grand Nationals, where the car was awarded Gold honors. And today, this 1-owner Ford is offered as an incredible, 1,083-mile time capsule thats 100% original with the exception of its battery, radiator and radiator hoses. Pop the hood and youll find a venerable 5.0 liter Windsor block that twists a stout 225 horsepower into an even 300 lb./ft. of torque. That hot five-oh funnels grunt to an original Borg Warner T5, which appropriates power to a Ford 8.8-inch axle and mild, 2.73 gears. That drivetrain motivates an aggressive, 1.5-inch lower stance that was engineered by the pros at McLaren. When the time comes to slow down, a familiar combination of power-assisted discs and drums gets the job done efficiently. Naturally, power rack-and-pinion steering is present and accounted for. At the corners, attractive ASC/McLaren alloys spin original 225/60VR15 Goodyear Eagle VR60s. And, between the doors, an ASC-massaged cockpit ensures that no one will think this is a run-of-the-mill Mustang. 1 of 137 Saleen Mustang Convertible 5.0L V8 5 Speed Manual A/C 14,216 Miles /// Fully documented, outfitted with one of the most cohesive performance packages the 80s had to offer, and sporting a mere 14,216 miles, this Saleen is quite possibly the premier car of its era! Finished in silky Black, and striped in tri-tone Grey, Saleen #88-516 incorporates every aerodynamic trick Steve Saleen knew right into its boxed body. Originally delivered to Courtesy Ford in Littleton, Colorado, this blue oval bombshell has been pampered and loved since the day it was new. And the cars great fit and finish is, no doubt, thanks to the largely hand-built nature of Saleens custom add-ons. Pop the hood and youll find a venerable 5.0 liter Windsor block that twists a stout 225 horsepower into an even 300 lb./ft. of torque. That hot five-oh funnels grunt to a tough Borg Warner T5 5-speed, which appropriates power to a Ford 8.8-inch axle. That axle spins an optional, Saleen-installed posi around Saleen-installed, 3.55 gears. That drivetrain pushes a heavily upgraded suspension, which plants power rack-and-pinion steering between Saleen-installed SVO discs. And a Saleen high performance alignment is the perfect complement to attractive Saleen/American Racing alloys and 225/50ZR16 BF Goodrich g-Force Sports. Inside this Mustang, a clean cockpit traces red-trimmed Saleen Flofit sport seats that feature full lumbar adjustment for the cars front passengers. In front of those thrones, a 2-tone dash hangs a small Saleen Mustang badge and bright Steve Saleen signature opposite a 170 MPH Saleen speedo and an electronic Saleen tach. Beneath that dash, a factory console tilts a Saleen-installed Hurst shifter behind a serialized Saleen plaque and Saleen-installed Pioneer audio. And in front of the driver, a Leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel, yes bolted up by Saleen, laps a factory tilt column. With only 14,216 miles of road time, this Ford is a fantastic piece of Mustang and Saleen history. Call, click or visit www.RKMotors.com for more information!

This Mustang GT is equipped with AC, AM FM stereo, Cruise control, Power brakes and power steering. The Cloth Interior features high back bucket seats and plush 1980 s carpeting. The dash and door panels are pristine along with the rest of the interior. Exterior styling is highlighted by aerodynamic ground affects, a rear spoiler and really cool louvers on the rear taillights. The front spoiler has recessed fog lights and gives the car an aggressive look. In the mid eighties the Mustang GT was a performance Best Value . The Mustang sold for thousands less than their primary competitor the Camaro and delivered better performance year after year. The 1987 model year was special because the GT received a whopping 25-horsepower addition for a total of 225 horsepower to its power peak, new slicked-up aerodynamics, and a modernized instrument panel. Ford also added another round of suspension improvements. One drive of this machine is enough to give even the most jaded autophile a fresh outlook on motor vehicles. The Mustang GTs engine is a tower of power, and the automatic transmission is smooth and precise. Theres more than enough torque here to wind the speedometer needle like a clock---and pity the IROC Camaros bold enough to roll alongside to ask for the time. 1988 Ford Mustang ASC McLaren The fox body style Mustangs are growing in popularity and are a great platform for anyone looking to wrench on a car. They are easy to work on, parts are easy to find and the late 80s cars are associated with strong durable drive trains. Not only is this Mustang a great looking car, it is a piece of 80s automotive history. There is a good chance you have never seen one of these McLaren Mustangs before and as years go by this is the type of vehicle that you will soon be seeing tucked away in collections and museums. After a Detroit custom car builder chopped the top off a Mustang of his own he brought the idea of a Mustang with a tonneau cover to ASC. In turn the ASC founder went to Ford with the idea. The first Mustang convertible was already in the works after abandoning convertibles for the past 10 years so initially the ASC/McLaren treatment was aplied to the Mercury Capri. Capri sales were already in the decline and the resulting car was fetching a higher price than the McLaren GT so the Capri ASK McLaren was discontinued in 1986. This then gave them opportunity to change over to iconic Mustang as their platform in the following year. They kept the reliable, sturdy and powerful drivetrain of the Mustang but packed a ton of visual modifications creating a unique car all its own. The car started life as a notchback coupe before receiving the McLaren package. This package included the roadster conversion, custom fairings and so much more. The rear seats are removed and a custom cover added to hide the top away when it is down. The windshield was even laid back slightly creating a much sleeker side profile than the typical Mustangs adding a touch of sportiness to the iconic muscle. Over the span of 3 years from 1987 to 1990 only 1,080 of these were produced. This one has 72,000 miles and it is very obvious when looking at it in person that it has been well cared for. The current owner has had the vehicle for 10 years and it was repainted the correct Silver color when he first received it. The body is very straight and the paint all in excellent condition except for 1 small scuff mark and the front bumper. After the repaint some of the original McLaren badges were not installed strictly for preference. They are Gold and the current owner liked a more clean look. These do however come with the car and could be easily reinstalled. The convertible top is done in Black and is in great condition as well. The 5.0 L HD motor runs extremely well and these engines are known for being very stout, handling major modifications, and lasting a lot of miles. That is what made them so popular in the custom car world and even on the drag strip in these Fox body Mustangs. You can get a lot of HP out of these engines without racking up a ton of cost. The motor starts up well and has a nice smooth idle. Backing the engine is a and automatic transmission that moves through the gears smoothly. Some under the hood upgrades include the aftermarket hood struts which eliminates the need for a prop rod and a Motorcraft distributor. On the inside of the car is where you will find a lot of upgrades as well. It is done in Silver to match the body and features nicely upholstered Recarro seats. Both seats are heated, have power lumbar support, and are custom embroidered with the ASC/McLaren logo. Behind the seats where the rear seats were originally mounted, additional storage space was created incorporating top opening compartments similar to what you see in C3/C4 Corvettes. All of the dash components are working properly, the AC blows cold and the car also has LED dash lights with adjustable colors to change the glow to your color of choice. These cars also received a more finished out trunk than the factory Mustangs. The interior has also been redone in the past around the same time it was repainted. This is a very cool and unique car that runs/drives very well. There arent a lot of these special ordered ASC/McLaren Mustangs out there and this one is easily one of the nicest if not the nicest available. It is tough to determine the cars that are going to be collectable in the future but if the past has shown us anything it is that unique low production vehicles that mark a time in history, especially for top tier iconic cars like the Mustang, are the ones to look at. Add it to your collection for only $15,000.00!
Sporting a special, fresh-looking exterior decked out in a nice, vibrant color, this 1988 Ford Mustang ASC McClaren is one well-dressed Pony. It carries the unmistakable promise of open air fun and will pull into its next owners garage with a clean AutoCheck in tow as proof its avoided any notable collisions. Very few of these special edition 2-seater Mustangs were made in the first place, so its got bona fide collectability value to boot. The ASC McLaren conversion confers a decidedly European look to this Mustang, giving it a noticeably more angled windshield, adding to its perceived length in back and creating a more refined, aerodynamic overall look. There are some nice styling cues that came along with the conversion, including special body moldings, an aggressive front air dam, a stylish rear spoiler and the McLaren badging on the decklid and prominent lettering recessed into the rear bumper. The result is a still very recognizable classic thatll make you do a double take when you see it. The bright red shade it wears really complements its bold look and, if you take a closer look, those ASC McLaren modifications were done with a lot of skill - no big surprise, as Ford gave this collaboration its blessing and everyone involved knew that thered be a lot of muscle car aficionados watching closely. With the top down, the ultra-finished look seems like a precursor to convertibles that wouldnt be introduced until quite some time later. The customary Mustang interior has been skillfully converted into its two-seater status, with gray upholstery that pairs well with the bright exterior. As you climb inside, youll see theres a nice, comfortable driving environment on display here. The special-edition leather bucket seats are in very clean condition, with no splits in sight on their two-tone surfaces, with plenty of padding remaining to provide comfort for even the longest of journeys, and between them youll notice a center console thats been seamlessly elongated to accommodate the ASC McLaren modification. In back, the space formerly occupied by the bench seat has seen a thorough revamping thats left it as a well-detailed storage compartment. In addition to the visual novelty this Mustang offers, its also a well-equipped, open air cruiser - air conditioning, a tilt column, cruise control, power windows and power door locks are all on board. An AM/FM/CD stereo sits at the center of a well-preserved dash area to handle your audio requests. Theres a slight bit less room available in the trunk area, but still plenty to stash some suitcases for a weekend getaway. Sitting in the center of a very well-detailed engine compartment is a 5.0-liter H.O. V8 known for its rock-solid dependability, surrounded by fresh-looking hoses and components. True to its reputation, the power plant starts easily and runs very smoothly, and is accompanied by a 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission thats also in good form. A number of components have been replaced to upgrade this rare Mustangs road-readiness, including a new radiator, brake pads and rotors, shocks and power steering pump. A strut tower brace also spans the shock towers to increase its rigidity. With power disc brakes at all four corners, as well as smooth power steering, this classic offers dependable stopping power and is an easy navigator on its set of 15 special edition ASC McLaren wheels outfitted with BF Goodrich T/A radials. A look below reveals an undercarriage thats looking reassuringly sturdy. You dont see many examples of this rare breed of Mustang on the road and with its strong drivetrain and well-preserved condition, this 1988 Ford Mustang ASC McLaren is a truly rare find. Call today!

Decided to sell my 88 Mustang. Dont really have the time to enjoy it. was a southern car and solid overall. Simple mods include flowmaster cat back. Headers.cold air intake. Bbk 70mm throttle body. had a wild rides s box professionally installed. Basically bulletproofs a known weak spot with the upper control arms on these cars. tires and rims are new and roughly 300 miles on them. Among other little things replaced. Runs and shifts strong. Prefer text first if you inquire. Price is o.b.o. but wont reply to low ball offers. I know what I got. NO TRADES. Title in hand.Vehicle Location is at our clients home and Not In Long IslandPlease Call First for location and talk to one of our reps at 516 376 3471 FREE Consignments!!
