We know there are a lot of you guys out there who love these early 70s pony cars, so when this great-looking 1972 Ford Mustang fastback showed up, we ushered it in and got busy taking some photos. A very recent freshening that includes new paint, interior, 4-wheel disc brakes, and a mildly upgraded 302 cubic inch V8, its the definitive answer to the guys who say horsepower died in 1971. The look says pro touring but in truth, it isnt too far from stock. The bright red finish looks awesome and with a satin black hood, this one doesnt need a lot of add-ons to get your attention. In fact, the fastback shape looks especially clean without spoilers or window slats. It was repainted quite recently, so it looks great with almost no signs of wear. They were careful not to over-do it, however, because the price needs to stay reasonable and youre going to want to drive it every chance you get. The shine is awesome, the bodywork is very nice, and as I said, the hood gives it a hi-po look that few cars could match in 1972. As a good original car, the panels fit together quite well and in 1972, the chrome bumpers and grille surround were standard equipment and they still look great today. As a result, it looks incredibly crisp and insanely appealing, the definitive performance look for 1972. The black interior was also replaced almost entirely. The dash is original, but beyond that, all the soft parts were upgraded to fresh parts. High-back buckets, a mini console, luxurious-looking door panels, and a taut headliner make it feel new inside and you cant argue with the style, which isnt dated at all. A factory 2-spoke steering wheel frames deeply set gauges that monitor the basics and look to be in good condition with fresh lenses. It carries factory A/C (the system is brand new but has not yet been charged), and along the way someone has added a modern AM/FM/cassette stereo system that sounds great when youre cruising, and honestly, do you really need more than a thumping 302 for fun? The folding rear seat makes this Mustang remarkably practical, and the trunk is beautifully painted to match the bodywork and needs nothing more than a repro trunk mat to be totally finished. In 1972, a 302 cubic inch V8 was the most popular powerplant in the Mustang arsenal, and its plenty entertaining today. This one was originally a 2-barrel engine but its been upgraded to make it a bit more entertaining without changing its character. It has been upgraded to a Holley 4-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock intake manifold to help it breathe a little better, Pertronix ignition, and a set of long-tube headers, so its definitely more potent. Ford Blue paint, finned valve covers and a matching Ford Motorsport air cleaner, and satin black inner fenders provide a great visual treat and theres a big radiator up front to keep it cool. They even added a reproduction Autolite battery topper. The C4 3-speed automatic shifts smoothly and it powers a stout 9-inch rear end with highway-friendly gears inside. The brake system is almost entirely new, including a disc brake at all four corners and a fresh booster under the hood. The undercarriage is incredibly clean, with light undercoating on the floors, a new Flowmaster exhaust system, and a new gas tank out back. Trick Ridler wheels look fantastic and carry staggered 255/35/18 front and giant 275/35/20 rear performance radials. This sucker looks amazing, but the way it drives will really win you over. Not many Mustangs looked more potent than this, and it definitely delivers on the promises the awesome bodywork makes. Call today!

The 1972 Ford Mustang was promoted as A beautiful experience, and in the case of this premium Grande model, theyre exactly right. Youre looking at un upper class pony that has been treated with respect since day one. So the condition of everything from the original V8, to the loaded interior, to all the right paperwork tells you this one knows how to deliver on the best nostalgia. The color of this car is called Gold Glow. That seems like the perfect way to represent the premium Grande trim level. This was the era when Ford wanted to give the Mustang some upper-class moves, and the Grande was it. More expensive than the standard coupe, it received standout pieces like the vinyl roof with the Grande badging, and a unique tape stripe package. These were the kind of things that screamed premium in 72, and they continue to look great today. In fact, the whole car is in stellar condition thanks to the right preservation, as well as never being afraid to invest in proper restoration including at least one respray over its lifetime. And like a true American classic, theres all the right brightwork with mirror-like bumpers, and plenty of trim around the windows, wheels, and grille. Plus, there has been the addition of the Mustangs Mag wheels, which is the perfect way to convey both sporty and premium. Inside is more of the premium time capsule feeling. It starts with the two-tone ginger seats finished in comfortable cloth where you sit and durable vinyl in the high traffic areas. Its the kind of design that could only come from the 1970s, and the condition looks like the day this one left the Dearborn assembly plant. All the other pieces from the carpets, to the dash pad, to the door panels all follow this earthy tone. So for those of you who want something else than muscle car black, this is a terrific way to stand out from the crowd. And because the Grande represented the premium end of the Mustang family, its great to see all those features still present and looking great today. This includes the center console armrest, AM/FM stereo, dual-spoke steering wheel, and even factory air conditioning. Premium also means power. The original 351 cubic-inch V8 is still looks great with its bold blue block and Powered by Ford valve covers. And even the factory stickers around the engine bay help drive home this originality. But if you look closely, youll see upgrades like a Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock intake. So just like true nostalgia, this looks like how you remembered it, but the V8 performs better than it ever did from the factory. Plus, the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and front disc brakes, keep this classy Mustang an easy cruiser. The sale comes with all the right paperwork for someone who appreciates a special classic. This includes the original window sticker, factory buildsheet, warranty card, owners manual, title documentation, and even dealer paperwork. A Grande is an interesting piece of Mustang history that we dont get to see too often, and this is one of the best represented pieces weve seen in quite some time. So its amazing you can get it all right now for such an affordable price. Call today!!!
The mid-seventies Mustangs are gaining in popularity. This 72 is looking long and lean in a great looking color that grabs your attention sitting on a sweet set of Shelby Elanor style wheels. Check it out. Technically still a first-generation Mustang but with the restyle for the early 70s cars that was pretty dramatically wider and longer in order to make room for more and bigger engine options. The vinyl roof on this one looks great with the Teal colored paint that adds to the long and low effect even further. A tan pinstripe highlights the upper body line and side molding runs down the beltline. The font of the hood curves down toward the iconic grill with the galloping Pony in the center. It is trimmed in chrome with a sharp looking chrome bumper underlining it. The front fenders still have the sharp upper edge that arches over and down to the grill along with a fenderwell lip that flares out and is trimmed in chrome. The sail panel flows gracefully onto the trunk and the back end is highlighted with another pinstripe and has those iconic triple taillights underlined by another chrome bumper. Open the door and you will be greeted by a nice two-tone door panel that sets the theme for the interior. It is Tan vinyl with a brown wood grained insert edged by thin chrome piping. Have a seat in the high-backed bucket with tan cloth insert and brown vinyl trim and reach out for the beefy three-spoke steering wheel that is comfortable and offers a good grip for spirited driving. A T-handle shifter for the automatic transmission is in the center console and falls naturally to hand. The dash is all original and stock with a center console that is trimmed in wood grain. There is a plaque indicating this is the Grande model with a galloping Mustang over an AM/FM/Cassette player. The ventilation controls are just below that which include those for the A/C system to keep you cool on hot summer days. A center console provides some nice storage and a comfortable armrest while cruising. Pop the hood and you will find a 351 Cleveland engine nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay that appears all stock and original with signs of good regular maintenance. This car was built and delivered with a 351 new, as is noted on the Marti report that was run on this car, and its believed to be the original motor. It has the original blue air filter assembly with a sticker indicating the 351 2-barrel carburetor which is still the original Motorcraft 2-barrel carb, and appears to have been rebuilt recently along with the factory air conditioning compressor. There are newer belts and hoses throughout. Power flows back through a 3-speed automatic to the rear end mounted on leaf springs, and the front-end rides on coils springs with ventilated front disc brakes to assure good braking ability. The rubber meets the road thorough 245/45ZR17s all around mounted on those sweet looking Shelby Elinor wheels. This is a super sharp looking Mustang with a 351 Cleveland riding on some super trick wheels. Come on down and check it out. You may decide to become one of the growing number of mid-seventies Mustang fans.

Through it all, the car remained successful and nearly every early variation has found its place in the collector market. Right now, its all about the pre-1971 cars, but the tide is rising for examples like this awesome 1972 Mustang Convertible.
