The first of two "splendor-filled" Summer Auction Weekends scheduled for July and August. July’s Splendor kicks off with an eclectic mix of items from vehicles, highlighted by a 1924 Ford Model T and a Kubel T-82R Kubelwagen replica; to a selection of garden equipment and furniture; to an excellent group of Native American artifacts. Friday also includes a Steinway Model M grand piano; art glass, fine ceramics, art photography; folk art furniture pieces, and more.
Part One (July) - Day 2 presents a dazzling array of 17th c. Old Master paintings; plus works by Severin Roesen, Earl Cunningham, William Mason Brown, William Trost Richards, Harrison Bird Brown and more. Featured furniture includes a mahogany secretary attributed to John & Thomas Seymour and an English Regency cellarette by Benjamin Banks. There is a large selection of Chinese items, including a Ming dynasty vase and Tang dynasty terra cotta bull figure, and many decorative items offered as well.
Sunday wraps up the sale with outstanding artwork by Paul Cadmus, Eric Sloane, Frederick Judd Waugh, Aiden Lassell Ripley, Yozo Hamaguchi, Richard Howard Hunt, and Emile Gruppe; plus an important abstract painting attributed to Cesar Domela. An early carousel figure group is led by an extremely rare sea monster by E. Joy Morris for the Phila. Toboggan Co. A large selection of fine jewelry and watches includes an Art Deco platinum, ruby bead and diamond bracelet, and watches by Rolex and Jules Jurgensen. The decorative arts selection includes estate silver and flatware sets; early 20th c. Tiffany Studios table lamps; Arts & Crafts and Victorian furniture; and selections of Japanese, Russian and Middle Eastern items.
