This is a 3-day Live auction event with online bidding available. Splendor Part II will run from August 27th through August 29th and will feature the following -
On Friday, Just For Starters, we offer a delightful and interesting array of items geared for home accessorizers and beginning collectors.
On Saturday, we present paintings by William Merritt Chase, Joseph DeCamp, William Bradford, James Buttersworth, William Hart, Francis Silva, Jervis McEntee, Maurice Utrillo, Alfred Bricher, Pierre Renoir, Grandma Moses, and many others; plus collections of fine ship paintings, a group of Old Master works and 16th – 18th century Continental sculpture. Two important clocks by David Wood, Newburyport, MA will be sold, along with an 18th Century Benjamin Willard tall clock. The folk art/marine category includes a copper full body codfish form weathervane and a group of scrimshaw decorated whale teeth. A large selection of Chinese items features a bronze Shang Dynasty ritual ‘Jue’ pitcher. Early military items, Italian maiolica pottery, oriental carpets, antique furniture and early silver round out the day’s offerings.
Sunday’s lineup features artwork by Andrew Wyeth, Andy Warhol, Wolf Kahn, N.C. Wyeth, Don Stone, and Edvard Munch, plus an extensive selection of Maine artists. The furniture category showcases a large selection of mid-20th Century designer pieces. There is an interesting group of Steuben art glass, plus Venetian stemware and ceramics. Featured among the estate jewelry collection will be a gent’s Rolex stainless steel and 18K gold submarine wristwatch and a many gem-set pieces with appraisals. Other items of interest will include a Steinway Model A Salon piano, selections of Japanese netsukes, Indian antiquities, and Russian and Middle Eastern items.
