Classic Car Overview

Here at the Classic Auto Mall we never know whats going to roll through the doors next, and on this particular day it was our second C8 Zora Corvette. For consignment and your viewing pleasure, a mid-engine 2022 Vette decked out with the 3LT package, a carbon fiber package and extra carbon fiber change-outs to move the needle even closer to the 50/50 weight to power distribution. This road rocket is sporting a mere 9,131 break in, light on the loud pedal miles, our offering is a mid-engine work of modern art and barely broken in. Look in your rear view mirror Modena. Exterior You could get a 2022 C8 in 12 colors and our consignor opted for Amplify Orange. With its 3LT trim and Z51 performance packages is an absolute stunner that looks like its going 100mph just standing still. The engines repositioning required a stronger focus on stark aerodynamics and cooling, and the resulting front fascia, side scoops with air intakes, and rear vents out back below the taillights all work to that end. The Z51 package punches up the C8s styling with a Z51 specific rear spoiler and LED lamps everywhere. Carbon Flash outside mirrors and black composite rockers give the car an even more aggressive look, if thats possible. Think of those distorted coke bottles you used to want at Spencer gifts, and this one takes that art form and exaggerates it on the width scale. Of course, as a new car, its in showroom-fresh condition with impeccable paint, perfect factory gaps, and not a mark on the slick finish. In fact, the highest praise we can pay any car is that it looks like it just rolled out of the factory, and in this Corvettes case, thats completely true! Also to preserve that look, an Expel 10+ wrapped PPF coating, will make it have more eye candy longevity. Add in a splash black striping, and now youve designated it purely American Muscle that no longer lumbers when it cuts curves. You wont be able to get the full effect of this car from the photos but spend some time looking it over and youll really dig all the little details, from the cool badges to the chin spoiler, Paragon radiator mesh, to the oversized exhaust tips at the flanks of the slick black rear diffuser, and you get the impression that theres nothing on this car that doesnt serve the purpose of going fast. Carbon Flash painted aluminum wheels in 19 and 20-inch are on and work with the Z51 mandated high performance tires and continue this image. Interior Corvette fans have been asking and the design engineers listened. A full-on redesign that outshines any previous version of the Vette is seen within the supercar cabin. Striking dipped in ceramic coated Natural Dipped (saddle) leather mixes with black carbon fiber on the door panels and is highlighted by tan stitching. Various toggles and buttons are seen for a litany of controls. Moving inside, more saddle leather covers the optional GT2 form fitting bucket seats which provide comfort for long drives as well as any track day excursions. A F-1 inspired steering wheel with the iconic crossed flags and multiple control buttons fronts the paddle shifters and fully digital dash. A full on 8 touchscreen Infotainment system is just to the drivers right and provides navigation, Wi-Fi connectivity, a rear view camera, and audio options galore. A saddle leather and black center console swoops up to meet the dash and holds the gear selector buttons as well as the manual shift mode toggle and hidden under a Corvette badged fold down is the dial for the magnetic selective ride control. In the back, shades of its ancestors with a black carbon fiber vertical console with an interior light topping it. Clean dark beige, (nearly gold), carpet floods the floors and presents as new, as does the entire interior because, well it is only 9K plus miles short of being so. Drivetrain A flip open of the rear body reveals the all aluminum 6.2 Liter LT2 V8 which makes a stunning 495hp. This engine benefits from the optional engine cover in black and the optional engine appearance package. This work of automotive art is bolted to an 8-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Putting the power to the pavement is a 5.17 geared rear axle with an electronic limited slip unit. All looking more Koenigsegg Jesko than Corvette under the long rear hood. Eat your heart out Fernando Alonso Undercarriage Up in the air we see a litany of aerodynamic pans to keep air moving smoothly under this domestic supercar. Z51 high performance independent short/long arm suspension is seen both front and rear and the Z51 high performance 4-wheel disc brake package is noted with their Corvette emblazoned brake calipers. High performance factory exhaust is also on for a perfect symphony of exhale. Drive-Ability As with all of the low mileage vehicles that grace our halls, we kept the test drive short to not diminish value. A perfect seating position is easily attainable for drivers of any stature and the bevy of available bells and whistles on the various screens is enough to send even the most tech savvy to Valhalla. During our short drive we experienced lightning fast acceleration, F-1 car-like handling and braking that will embarrass cars 3 times the cost. All functions were operational during our drive, and we were left with a gleaming smile from this domestic serious track and street savvy kit. The new and used car market is crazy these days with shortages and prices through the roof even for the most basic of transportation. Youd better hurry so you too can be part of the Corvette elite as this 3LT model wont last long. I wonder how I would look in full race regalia piloting this C8 around Nuremberg.....hmmmmm Kathy!... get Leno on the phone.
