The Most Desirable Corvette Ever?

The 1967 Corvette is considered the most-loved Corvette ever produced. The combination of classic C2 styling, along with an incredible array of powertrain and comfort options, makes it one of the most desirable Corvettes ever. Not bad for a car that was never supposed to be made!

The ZR-1's production run from 1990-95 was one of the most exciting times for Corvette enthusiasts in recent memory. In the mid-1980s, rumors of a "King of the Hill" Corvette began to leak out of Detroit and into America's speed shops and dealerships.

Classic Car Overview

At first sight, the latest Corvette is nearly indistinguishable from all prior versions. Granted the drivetrain has moved to the center but even simple styling cues that started with the C2 Stingray all the way to the C7 are missing. When one passes by, you think that it is something from northern Italy. The dramatic lines and functional air inlets are as dramatic as many Supercars on the road today. These baseline reactions are reinforced once you have time to get near and really examine the spectacular design of the 2020 C8 Corvette. The anticipation of such a revamp of Americas sportscar has been long awaited. Moving the drivetrain to the center of the car has been the biggest change to the Corvette since 1963 and the launch of the Stingray. This evolution has transformed the Corvette to a serious contender of the worlds greatest Supercars. The engineering is truly equal to the best of cars coming from Europe at nearly the price. A chassis that uses extruded aluminum and numerous combinations of composites makes this the best handling Vette by far. The tried and true 6.2 liter V-8 now produces 490 horsepower and 495 foot pounds of torque. This power is put to the road via an 8 speed dual clutch transaxle. This means incredible performance to the tune of zero to 60 miles per hour in 3.3 seconds! This is truly Supercar performance. When you enter the C8, it is as though you have strapped yourself into the cockpit of a fighter jet. The LED display is simply amazing in an array of analog and digital read outs. The steering wheel has controls for much of the devices to operate the vehicles dynamics, displays, comfort and entertainment functions. The ergonomics are second to none with fully adjustable seating positions for drivers of all sizes. To your right is a control knob and numerous buttons that customize your driving experience. The information panel is very intuitive and allows the driver to access navigation, entertainment, climate control and front and rear cameras with ease. Once you begin your driving experience you realize both extremes are in your control. In simple automatic mode, the dual clutch transaxle shifts in an effortless manor that makes around town driving effortless. Depress the manual selector and you have total control of an incredible performance machine. The engine revs to red-line effortlessly and the up-shifts via the right hand paddle are barely felt as you accelerate through the gears. You will feel like a race car driver as you down-shift with the left hand paddle and the perfectly rev matched shifts. The example presented by Motorcar Gallery is 2 LT equipped with numerous options that truly make it unique. The GT2 seats have both heat and A/C availability. The convenience of the automatic lift control will save the front end from pesky dips and bumps. The Z 51 Performance Package once again brings the C8 to Supercar status with Magna-ride suspension, limited-slip differential, performance gear ratios and Brembo ABS brake system. This 2020 C8 was specifically ordered in Shadow Gray Metallic and enhanced with the traditional Gran-Sport Red Stripes on the front fenders. It comes to us from the 1st owner who has opted for the convertible coming in 2021. Motorcar Gallery traditionally resells automobiles that are either increasing or holding their values. With numerous unforeseen delays at the Corvette Assembly facility, it now turns out that the initial 2020 launch examples will be some of the most rare with such very limited production. This is a real opportunity to own a World Class performance automobile that we feel could be a future classic in the same sense as the 1963 C2 Split Window Stingray. Trades welcome!
