Classic Car Overview
To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION at RM Sothebys Miami event, 27 February 2026.
$1,000,000 - $1,500,000 USD
What began as a one-time, unconventional arrangement between British automaker Aston Martin and Italian design firm Carrozzeria Zagato has spanned nearly seven decades. Although the two companies are now firm collaborators, the partnership was not always so solid. In 1960, Aston Martin commissioned Zagato to reimagine its DB4GT, the short-wheelbase, track-honed version of the DB4 touring car for the following season. The car debuted at the 1960 Earls Court Motor Show in London and won accolades immediately for the way it blended Aston Martins signature shape with design cues that were undoubtedly Zagato. Just 19 were built, and despite its period racing success, Aston Martin owner David Brown did not call for a follow up.
It was over two decades later when Aston Martin, then owned by Victor Gauntlett, called upon the design firm once again. The angular, modern version of the V8 Vantage coupe debuted at the 1986 Geneva Motor Show. Despite the controversial design, it immediately sold out and a convertible version was ordered. Fewer than 100 models were commissioned all told, and the two companies yet again parted ways for years.
In 2002, Aston Martin reached out to Zagato for a shortened version of its DB7 that harked back to the original DB4 Zagato. This time, the relationship had staying power. Subsequent Aston Martin Zagatos over the last 15 years have cemented the two brands together.
Unveiled at the 2019 Audrains Newport Concours in Rhode Island, Aston Martin DBS Zagato collaboration coincided with the famed Italian coachbuilders 100th anniversary and was fittingly offered alongside the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation cars as part of the DBZ Centenary Collection. An extraordinarily exclusive product, just 19 of these matching pairs were sold to the public.
Keeping with tradition, the DBS Zagato features a double-bubble roof and taught, rounded surfaces that have become the Zagatos signatures over the past decades. Based on the DBS Superleggera platform, it features Aston Martins 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V-12 engine uprated to a staggering 760 horsepower.
The example offered here was delivered to its original owner in late 2019 and has been used sparingly since, with just 271 miles showing on the odometer at the time of cataloguing. A handsome machine, it is finished in Xenon Grey over Blue Haze. An invoice on file dated April 2024 confirms an annual service and several additional small repairs.
Offering a seamless blend of British and Italian style, this single-owner, one-of-19 DBS GT Zagato is an instant collectible. To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/auctions/mi26/.
