The J57 Carbon Ceramic Brake Package was one of the most desirable performance options offered on the 2017 Z06. With an MSRP of $7,495, it replaced the standard iron rotors with massive Brembo carbon ceramic rotors that are lighter, dissipate heat far better, resist brake fade during repeated high-speed stops, and generate far less brake dust. The reduced unsprung weight also improves steering response, ride quality, and overall handling. Unlike the Z07 package, J57 lets you enjoy the benefits of carbon ceramic brakes while keeping the more street-friendly suspension and tires.
The J57 option is also surprisingly rare. Chevrolet built 5,153 Z06s for 2017 (4,297 coupes and 856 convertibles), and only 1,301 Corvettes of all body styles received the standalone J57 brakes. Of those, 1,155 were Z06 coupes and 146 were Z06 convertibles, meaning only about 22% of all 2017 Z06s were equipped with the standalone J57 carbon ceramic brake package.
