Classic Car Overview
2016 Mazda Miata MX-5 Club For consignment, a 2016 Mazda Miata MX-5 Club with a title verified 5,226 actual miles, one family owned, garage kept, and the only mod is WeatherTech mats. It might surprise you to learn that Miatas are sold in more limited numbers in the U.S. than Corvettes, with only 9,465 MX-5 sold in 2016 against the Corvettes 40,689 units in the same year. Worldwide, 40,101 Miatas were available in 2016. Exterior The new body of the fourth generation Miata was well received as designers had consistently hit the nail on the head and set their own market trends. Soul Red Crystal presents as a deep dark red on this little roadster and if we say it looks like Candy Apple Red, we hope hot rodders will not think it is blasphemy. Mazdausa.com has an entire page and video devoted to the development and use of the color. The long nosed, short tail configuration of the Miata is pure sports car and even 27 years after the first ones rolled into America, the lines still reflect classic British roadsters, and theres no better place to compare the two than Classic Auto Mall! Projection headlights do in fact appear angry, as Car & Driver suggests, aggressive, with shark-like contouring and a gaping grille. Out back, single round tail lights are like comets with tails that house the reverse lights and turn signals, while a puckering valance falls below a thin black wing. 17-inch 8 spoke charcoal wheels blend nicely with the black canvas top and with the top down, the glossy black roll bars substitute for color blending. A few chin scrapes are the only imperfections on this fresh 2016. Interior Red stitched door cards exhibit a propensity of angles that we found on the exterior body lines, and are clean and efficient under a color key painted header. Supportive bucket seats are black cloth with red stitching made tall with head restraints that are mirrored in shape by the roll bars. The seats flank an upright storage bin that waterfalls down to a pair of cupholders, then a control knob for the screen, and finally, the shifter, in this case automatic, wearing a red stitched leather boot and red stitched knob in like new condition. The steering wheel is appropriately sporty with plenty of thumb controls and the digital dash lights up with clean gauges, the tach front and center, as it should be. The large infotainment screen is high on the dash and easy to navigate while back down on the dash are the climate control knobs, likely larger than the knobs in your Bentley. Double red stitching through the dash panel is a nice attention to detail. Black carpet is protected by the WeatherTech mats and the trunk is fully lined and spotless. Drivetrain Three cheers for the lack of plastic engine covers, (take that, Corvette!), and attention is given to clean metals and accessible components with this 2.0 liter DOHC inline 4 cylinder rated at 155 horsepower. The Sport Mode automatic provides six speeds and the paddle shifter option, all of which is sent to the rear axle with 3.45 gears. Naturally, power disc brakes are found at all four corners. Undercarriage About what you would expect with a garaged 5,000 mile car, super spotless with only hints of ever being used. The single exhaust consists of original equipment and leaves the car via twin tips out back. MacPherson struts make up the independent suspension at both ends. Drive-Ability The 2016 retains the spirit of the first gen cars but catches up to the times with modern technology and mechanics to create a well rounded sports car. The cars automatic shifts smoothly and the car has decent acceleration. Car and Drivers stick shift version went 0 to 60 in 5.8 seconds and our seat tells us the automatic adds just a few tenths to that, keeping it respectable. Meanwhile, handling is excellent and comfort is A+. Without question, every function afforded the 2016 Miata owner was operating as it should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Weve now had the honor of representing every generation of Miata at Classic Auto Mall and there are a few things we know. One, they sell fast. Two, they were classic the minute they left the plant. And finally, there may be no better bang for the buck when it comes to sports cars. Were not geniuses, people having been saying that for years about the Miata. We just want to confirm it in case you had any doubts before making the call to the mall to reserve your seat in this Soul Red Crystal dream.
