2015 McLaren 650S Spider

When the 650S arrived in 2015, it wasn't just an updated MP4-12C, but it was McLarens answer to Ferraris 458 and a giant leap forward for the brand. Borrowing heavily from the P1, it featured a lightweight carbon-fiber MonoCell chassis, 641 horsepower from its twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8, and a 0-60 mph time under three seconds as well as a 207-mph top speed. At a decade old, the design is still contemporary, as well as the performance figures, making it one of the best-value supercar/hypercar buys in todays market.

This McLaren was built in October of 2014 and sold new on December 30th, 2014 by The Collection McLaren in Coral Gables, Florida. It was special ordered with the following options:

The total MSRP was $326,645, which is equivalent to $460,735 in todays dollars.

The first owner was from Miami, Florida, and kept this McLaren for a little over a year/6k miles. It was serviced at the selling dealer several times, including a spark plug service. It was then sold to McLaren of Newport Beach, California, who serviced the car, prepared it for sale, and sold it to the next owner from Eagle, Idaho on April 8th, 2016 with 6,768 miles. This 2nd owner kept the car for 18 months and added 4k miles. It was serviced several times at the McLaren service center in Boise, Idaho before being sold to the recent local Southern California enthusiast on November 8th, 2017 with 10,361 miles.

The current owner was a long-time car enthusiast and semi-pro racer in both Porsches and McLarens. He purchased this 650S as a fun weekend canyon toy he could enjoy near his home in Malibu with his friends. Unfortunately, he passed away earlier this year, and the family has asked me to help find the next caretaker. For the past 9 years, this owner has added nearly 20k more miles of fun weekend driving. He was fastidious with his service and had the car frequently maintained at his local McLaren dealer (Beverly Hills McLaren/OGara). Work performed during his care included:

The exterior of this 650S Spider is in great condition with light signs of use. The paint appears to be original as verified with a paint meter (front end only, as the rest of the car is not made of metal). There are no major blemishes or flaws and just a few minor nicks/chips here and there from normal road use. The front spoiler has typical scuffing from parking curbs that's only visible when under the car. The glass appears to also be original and wearing the proper factory stampings. There are no major chips or scratches, but some light road rash on the windshield. The wheels have a few small rash spots, but nothing major, and are wearing near new/full tread Pirelli tires installed 5 months/100 miles ago. The brake pads appear to have more than half-life and the ceramic rotors are in good shape with no signs of age/wear.

The interior is equally as nice with no signs of significant wear. The leather seats have no tears and just some light exit bolster wear. The carpet is in good shape with no stains or marks. The door panels look new, as does the headliner and dash. All the gauges work properly. The convertible top mechanism operates smoothly. The radio/Bluetooth works, and the A/C blows cold. The previous owner installed an expensive and integrated K40 radar detector system. It appears to work, but we do not have the remote control used to manage it.

This McLaren starts easily and makes a great sound. Its not too loud, but has a nice growl. The power is incredible as it pulls relentlessly through the rev range. The dual clutch transmission shifts smoothly through all the gear changes with no slipping. The handling is crisp and precise. The car tracks straight, and the ride quality is quite good, even on uneven road surfaces. The brakes have excellent bite with no fading or pulling.

This 650S has current California registration paid to June of 2027 and it passes smog.

Included with this McLaren are 4 main keys (2 might need batteries/currently don't work) tow hook/tool kit bag, tire flat repair can, owners manuals with stamped maintenance booklet, a lithium-ion McLaren-branded Ctek battery tender, and current owners service receipts.
