Only produced for the 2014-2019 model years, the Corvette's seventh-generation is the second-shortest-lived variant of GM's flagship sports car and the final generation of front-engine Corvettes. Essentially every element of the car was dramatically improved over its predecessor, with sharper handling, a vastly higher quality interior, and more power offering buyers similar performance to the C6-generation Z06 in a more livable package. Naturally, even more focused performance models were released soon thereafter, starting with the Z06 in 2015.

GM pulled few punches with the C7 Z06. Its new Supercharged 'LT4' V8 produced 650hp (12hp more than the outgoing ZR1), and was, for the first time, offered as a coupe or convertible. While the new Z06 soon proved to be the highest-performance production Corvette ever, buyers could enhance its track performance even further with the optional Z07 Performance Package. Featuring carbon-ceramic brakes, ultra-high-performance tires, higher-downforce aerodynamics, and a specially tuned suspension, a Z07-equipped Corvette lapped the famed Nürburgring six seconds faster than the C6 ZR1 - no mean feat considering the lower cost of entry.
