Classic Car Overview
Debuting at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, the Nissan GT-R is the most iconic sports car ever produced by the eastern world. As the sixth generation model to bear the GT-R name, the Nissan GT-R follows in the footsteps of the many GT-R iterations of its predecessor: the Nissan Skyline. Despite this heritage, the Nissan GT-R’s only identifiable feature from the Skyline are its signature four round tail lights due to the vehicle being built on an entirely new model. Beyond that, the only thing tying the two cars together is their well-suited “Godzilla” nickname. Nissan’s chief creative officer has likened the Nissan GT-R to high tech giant robots popular in Japanese culture. While the comparison may seem ridiculous, anyone who has had the pleasure of getting behind a GT-R’s wheel knows that this analogy is as true as steel. This chassis number 270166 is a Switzer modified ultimate street edition vehicle with over 1100 horsepower. Performance modifications by Switzer and The Shop Houston include ball-bearing turbocharger upgrades, mahle pistons, pins, and rings, camshafts, oil pump intercoolers, fuel injector kit, GT30R turbochargers and manifold external wastegate, mass air flow (MAF) intake and filter, high flow intakes, and catless downpipes with full 4 in. stainless steel exhausts. Additional performance upgrades are present in the form of Carillo rods, an Albins 1-6 gearset, a 1000-lb foot clutch, a transmission brace, a 1000HP pro-level rear axle kit, a Boost logic engine breathing system, an ethanol fuel tank, and an EcuTek tune. However, there’s more to this example than outstanding performance. Aesthetic improvements have been made both outside and in thanks to the inclusion of carbon fiber for the rear diffuser, exhaust surrounds, and center dashboard. Furthermore, an impressive Bose surround sound system was installed in case a driver needs to drown out the fear-instilling thrum of the engine at full capacity. All said and do
