The Z/28 was engineered for uncompromised performance, shedding nearly 300 pounds compared to the SS or ZL1 by removing sound deadening, thinning the glass, and even making air conditioning optional. Multimatic DSSV spool-valve dampers, developed for racing applications, give the Z/28 cornering precision few cars of its era could match, while its brakes and tires provide over 1.5 g of deceleration and 1.08 g of lateral grip. This car was built to chase lap times, and it delivered.

Inside, the cabin reflects its track-focused mission. Supportive Recaro sport seats are upholstered in leather and Alcantara, while Z/28 floor mats mark its exclusivity. Comfort is minimal but purposeful, with steering wheel controls and available A/C and heat, but the emphasis remains on driving feel and performance.
