2014 Audi R8 5.2 Spyder

Introduced in 2006, the Audi R8 was exclusively designed, developed, and manufactured by Audis performance division, Audi Sport GmbH. Utilizing an all-aluminum monocoque and a mid-mounted V-8 engine, the R8 was a world class supercar that did not subject owners to the troubles experienced with other European high maintenance exotic cars. Not content to rest on their laurels, the performance minded engineers at Audi Sport introduced the R8 5.2SFI for model year 2009. This new model utilized the 5.2L V-10 engine borrowed from the Lamborghini Gallardo. This exotic engine was built by Audi Sport for Lamborghini as both companies are subsidiaries of the same parent company. This exotic ten-cylinder engine utilized all aluminum construction, four valve DOHC cylinder heads, Audis FSI fuel stratified direct injection, and variable cam timing to produce 525 horsepower at 8,000rpm and 391 lb.ft. of torque at 6,500rpm. The 90-degree bank angle and straight pin crankshaft work in concert to produce a thrilling exhaust note that will send shivers down your spine as its crests 8,000rpm only inches behind your ears. Combined with Audis permanent quattro all-wheel drive system, this engine rockets the R8 Spyder to a 0-60 time of just over four seconds flat. While Audi offered a DCT automatic that was somewhat clunky, the choice for a real drivers car was the rare six speed manual transmission.
