The leather adorns the bucket seats with the drivers side showing a wisp of usage but otherwise spotless, while the monochromatic tan interior continues on the steering wheel with contrasting nickel colored spokes and Stuttgarts finest coat of arms. Black faced gauges fit in a contoured cover and the center stack has a screen displaying the functions of the AM/FM/Multi-CD player followed by push button climate controls and a storage cubby. In the center console is the coveted shifter and of the 1,300 Caymans sold in the U.S., only a fraction of them were manuals as globally, only 779 base Caymans received the joystick. The leather boot matches the surrounding plastic and the plush, quality carpet below. This same carpet cleanly lines the storage area under the hatch and the hatch itself has a handsome coverage of materials. Drivetrain The mid-mounted engine is a 2.9 liter flat 6 cylinder pumping out 265 horsepower and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear axle and 3.875 gears. Undercarriage With all of the components towards the back, the front is occupied by aerodynamic belly pans and all present cleanly. The dual exhaust travels through original mufflers and then comes together to exit through a single pipe. Four wheel power disc brakes are on board and MacPherson struts make up the suspension front and rear. Drive-Ability We know theres another German manufacturer who coined the adage the ultimate driving machine but thats only because Porsche didnt trademark it first. The cozy cabin is a fantastic place from which to pilot this car which is responsive, quick, and nimble on the test loop and as a quality built machine, all functions operate as intended.
