Classic Car Overview
2009 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Coupe For consignment, a 2009 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 coupe with a title verified 2,109 actual miles, a one owner car thats been garage kept and driven in nice weather only. This ones barely warmed the oil and is like stepping into a brand new car that just happens to be 16 years old. Only 3,004 Shelby GT500s were produced in 2009, even after successful runs of three times that number in the previous two years. Exterior Performance White with Vista Blue Shelby stripes adorn this GT500, the muscular stance of which is enhanced by 255/45ZR18 tires in front and 285/40R18s on back and they are the original equipment tires. The black grille, chin spoiler, hood vents, 18-inch wheels, and rear splitter create an impressive presence and its one of those cars you see in traffic and know immediately its not your average Mustang. The iconic Cobra on the sides and the legendary name across the back confirm your suspicions, black sport mirrors cling for dear life on the outside and black trim encircles the bottom of the car from the front spoiler to the rockers to the splitter. Big chrome tips peek out from under the rear valance and the coveted Cobra mock gas cap shines big and bold, visible to those you pass, and there will be many. As a pampered low mileage car, we didnt expect many flaws and our expectations were exceeded by finding none. Interior Inside, the monochromatic design is dominated by familiar Charcoal, beginning with plastic molded door panels with padded insert, speakers, and storage built on the bottom floor of the armrest/door pull. The leather bucket seats wear a Cobra emblem, skillfully stamped into the seat back like a ghost flame, surrounded by ample bolstering and perforated tuck and roll inserts. The seats look new, not surprisingly, and the back 2+2 seating looks untouched. The steering wheel is a thick ergonomic delight, sculpted to fit the hands in different places and offering a splash of color with red cross stitching. The gauges are a no nonsense collection in a simple to read cluster, backlit in blue with red needles, and the center stack contains a Shaker 1000 AM/FM/6 CD radio and a three knob A/C controller. A stout shifter wears a gray leather boot with red stitching based on a smooth center console that includes the requisite cupholders. Low pile black carpet below is in fine shape, accented with Cobra carpeted mats, and the foam backed charcoal headliner is in excellent condition. The trunk is finished in gray cloth panels and houses a substantial subwoofer unit. Drivetrain The heart of this snake is the 5.4 liter DOHC supercharged V8, an impressive piece of machinery that remains spotless in the bay and generates 500 horsepower. The gears are rowed through a T56 6-speed manual transmission and power is received by an 8.8 Ford rear axle with 3.31 gears and TracLoc. Power disc brakes are requisite and Brembos are standard on this performer up front. Undercarriage The underside of the car is super clean with barely a sign of ever being driven and some typical surface rust on the axle and driveshaft. The dual exhaust flows from a pair of catalytic converters through a free flowing H-union, then to original equipment mufflers then lead to an exit via chrome tips. MacPherson struts make up the independent suspension in front while a 3 link with coil springs and a panhard bar are out back. No oil, no grease, no dirt, you could pretty much eat off the surface of the undercarriage. Drive-Ability Sitting in the seat of Shelby GT500s is always serious business, embodied by the supportive seats, grippy steering wheel, and fluid clutch. And of course, the roar of the exhaust. We grab the reins and trot this pony out of the stable, careful to not allow its full thoroughbred desires to be unleashed on our tame test loop. We rowed through the gears and as expected, the acceleration is ungodly and its important to keep the hooves planted, especially on original tires. Everything worked as it should and there are not many cars that evoke this feeling of power while remaining completely streetable at low speeds. Daily driver, sure, weekend E-ticket ride, absolutely! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. In a world filled with Mustangs, the Shelby GT500 sprints to lead the herd. Heres an example of an ultra low mileage car thats barely been out of the stable. This is your time to saddle up to the Mustang youve always wanted! You can pump the brakes right now or put it in gear and hit the gas. The choice is yours!
