Classic Car Overview

2009 Dodge Viper ACR ACR stands for American Club Racing, and it means the most extreme Viper built for public roads is slithering our way. Most of the time, effort, and development dollars have been spent on stuff that makes the ACR go faster through the twisty bits-suspension, brakes, wheels and tires, and aerodynamics. Especially the aerodynamics. Just chew on this for a moment: At 150 mph, the regular Viper coupe generates 100 pounds of downforce; at the same speed, the Viper ACR generates 1000 pounds of downforce. Taking the checkered flag for the fastest car currently here at Classic Auto Mall, we have on our consignment polished showroom floors a 2009 Viper ACR. And not your everyday Viper ACR, this one has had some serious investment in engine power upgrades. These power upgrades are to the tune of 937HP 888LBS of torque, and a Procharger F1C currently with 11.5 PSI of boost, although it can go up to 16! Yikes! Exterior All adorned with numerous carbon fiber fins, spoilers and underneath aero packages, this Viper comes very close to being able to drive upside down due to the downforce, but its just a little shy, which we would not attempt if it actually did! Fiberglass is sculpted to create the exterior with scooped hood and hood venting on either side, integrated headlights, a deep front quarter panel cove, rounded roofline, and short trunk area. Its really all race car, and even looks the part with a fine mix of Viper Red and Black, changing back and forth on each panel, using mainly red on the bottom, and black with red striping on top. A big key to the downforce is the large rear spoiler which can be adjusted to various angles depending on the track you want to go around. Tastefully hidden side pipes show only their ends which poke out just above the rockers and in front of the rear wheel well. Black spoked Sidewinder wheels with red exterior trim rings are wrapped in low profile sticky rubber. Get a load of those big disc brakes shining through with the red Viper calipers, and lets go racin. Interior A swing of the red and black vinyl sculpted doors with some matte faux machined metal door actuator and vertical pull, and we are stepping into aero heaven, and its just the inside! Crossing over the deep threshold, we see charcoal gray suede inserts with smooth leather bolster surrounds covering high back racing style buckets with extra side panels to keep you secure. A big center console for fiberglass covered with red leather, and using panels inserted of carbon fiber, sport a glovebox, shift lever cupholder, window toggles, and handbrake. The carbon fiber continues to flow upward on to the dash front, where it houses 3 glowing red lighted white faced gauges, a Pioneer radio with a surprise screen that ejects itself upon the fire up, and comes to a vertical position rest for easy viewing on the navi, and backup cam screen, as well as the various controls displayed within the screen menu. In front of the leather covered rally steering wheel is a semicircular arch dash top, with a trio of white-faced gauges deeply inset into the curve. These glow with red lighting just like the 3 to their right...snazzy. On the rear panel you will note a large woofer and tweeter inset not yet another carbon fiber panel pumping out the DBs right next to you. black carpeting for the floors and this is continuing into the rear hatchback storage area. Drivetrain A V10 engine rebuilt with all Gen V internals, 1300cc injectors, dual fuel pumps and the F1C Procharger which just sings with the sound of copious amounts of air entering when you press the accelerator. 1.75-inch custom headers for the exhaling thru the Borla mufflers, and an AEM Infinity stand alone computer with self-turning, boost and traction control controls in the console. A 6-speed short shifter manual transmission uses a McLeod twin disc clutch. An awesome power plant, all shoehorned into the spotless engine bay. The engine, although tuned for E85 can be fed with any 92 octane pump gas, and it will automatically adjust itself to what liquid it is being fed! Undercarriage A mixture of carbon fiber and aluminum ground effects panels abounds and covers all the mechanicals to create a slip stream of air underneath. No rust, just cast aluminum suspension, adjustable ride shocks and struts, fully adjustable coilovers and oversized disc brakes all around. Drive-Ability Its not every day one gets to ride in a 900hp car set up for racing, so I hopped in with my trusty decoder/experienced driver, and he attempted to have me soil my khakis and strike fear in me. With his foot only halfway down on the power, this car just lights up and goes on and on. It really needs to go to a certified racetrack to realize the full potential of its power, aerodynamics and handling. It was a comfortable ride, and all functions worked perfectly at slow or fast speed. It provides a nice array of conveniences as well, so you could use it as an everyday driver during the week. This car arrived with a big binder of all work done to it, and has its original window sticker. It is in showroom condition and runs like the hurricane winds blow. (and with nearly the sound of one, thanks to the whooshing sound of the Procharger!). Plenty of stopping power, conveniences and just a beautiful everyday driver sports car that can do at least 160 on the track! All the while that airflow sings to you for your enjoyment.
