The Original Muscle Car

It's hard to imagine that the Pontiac GTO might never have made it into production. Had it not been for a small group of managers at Pontiac who were also car enthusiasts and visionaries, the GTO might not have been.

Classic Car Overview

2006 Pontiac GTO In early 1963 a team of engineers and designers got together at Pontiac and decided to focus more on street racing and power. The Tempest had been in production for a bit, and a more muscular powerful car was needed. Hence the acronym GTO or Grand Tempest Option became the code for the secret new development that would take place. John DeLorean actually claims the GTO came from the Italian Gran Turismo Omologato or Grand Touring Homologated, (certified), which in reality the car was never meant for grand touring, but to be the fastest straight-line Pontiac produced. Presenting in very nice and racy condition, this V8 LS2 mill optioned car which pumps out 400hp and a sought after version is ready to rock and roll and smoke out the masses. Some upgrades to sugarcoat the deal even further, make this consignment a great little piece of automotive mercury for someone who wants to slip by the competition. Exterior Quicksilver can be seen when this car blows by you. The paint is ok, with chips, dings, dents and scrapes on the side panels and bumpers of this consignor stated 47,724 clocked original mile car. A body matching neoprene bumper has the BMW-esque grille inserted and an air-dam below with running lights on either side. On the back a rounded spoiler emulates the trunk shape and aero inset tail and backup lights curve with the lines of this rear, we do note that the passenger side taillight is cracked and will need to be replaced. Dual exhaust peek out from underneath the GTO badge black rear roll pan. Nice, 18-inch lightweight KYOWA racing wheels painted black and in snowflake pattern, are wrapped in Delinte size 245/40Z-R18s all around. Interior Nicely presenting and equally as welcoming oxblood leather buckets are in front, and a 2 plus 2 bench which are essentially 2 more individual attached buckets are in back. Black accenting is embroidered on the backs, (GTO... imagine that!), and the plastic tubs they reside in. These buckets have some power adjustments as well as a manual recline knob on the sides. A very clean dash, with red background instrumentation and some smaller LED readouts, and very clean controls are in the dash front. Seen in the center, a small LED display within an AM/FM/CD Bluetooth head unit. Temp knobs are just above and this dash center melts into a center console which features a short throw shifter with a red stitched leather boot, and handbrake with similar stitching in black leather. Billet aluminum pedals and an original steering wheel are noted. A bit of red accenting can be seen on the sides of the console and the toe kicks just above and beside the black carpeting flooding the floors. A tight black fuzzy headliner sports some LED lighting anodes looking nice and clean with no errors. Drivetrain An LS2 6.0Liter V8 original to the car is under the hood. EFI feeds the mill and a T56 6-speed manual transmission is bolted on the back. A 3.64 limited slip differential is way in the back. All looking clean and great even down to the AEM Brute Force air intake system. Undercarriage In a nutshell, very clean, slight surface rust on the usual corrosive steel parts, but totally unremarkable. Beautifully preserved, and obviously never taken out in a snow/salt environment. Independent suspension and power disc braking all around. Solid as a rock. Drive-Ability Gotta love a low mileage piece of late model muscle, and this car does not disappoint. all good under this hood, and in the seat. Excellent acceleration, solid bias free braking and rail like handling. And I love the oxblood leather which I admit Im a sucker for. Taking a close look at the items included, this car needs some cosmetic TLC but still smokes em with ease. Wonderful interior, sporty exterior, racy wheels and 400 horses for this goat. Grab this baby by the horns and prepare to go for an E ticket ride.
