Porsches Carrera GT can trace its roots back to a stillborn racing program in the late 1990s when Porsche sought to produce a new Le Mans prototype to replace the GT1. A change in FIA rules, however, shelved Porsches racing plans while the model was in development. Nevertheless, Porsche believed it could adapt the platform for use on the road. Going head-to-head with the Ferrari Enzo, Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, and even the Ford GT, the Carrera GT quickly proved it could hold its own against the competition in what was a very fierce market.

The Carrera GT was clearly predicated on the racecar principles of low weight and extreme power, starting with a 220-pound tub of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic executed by ATR Composites. This lightweight material also comprised the engine subframe and was generously used throughout the breathtaking coachwork. The model was further underpinned with a racing-derived suspension, enormous carbon-ceramic monoblock brakes, and forged magnesium-alloy, center-lock wheels.

The models lightweight diet carried over to the Carrera GTs all-aluminum, 5.7-liter V-10 powertrain. Employing aluminum pistons, an aluminum intake manifold, titanium connecting rods, a forged crankshaft, and dry-sump lubrication, this 605-horsepower, mid-mounted engine tips the scales at only 452 pounds. Weighing just 2,755 pounds in total, the Carrera GT is capable of mind-bending performance, its aerodynamic ground-effects working in conjunction with a retractable rear wing to keep the car securely planted as it achieves 0 to 60 mph in less than four seconds and a top speed of about 200 mph.

Given the Carrera GTs highly impressive technological specification and incredible looks, it is no wonder that each of the 1,270 cars built is treasured today. This example, serial number 0534, completed production on 23 December 2004 and is believed to be one of approximately 644 sold new in the United States from 2004 to 2007. Delivered in Seal Grey Metallic with a Dark Grey interior, it features factory options of 10-millimeter higher sport seats, air conditioning, the Porsche Online Pro CD console, and the highly desirable luggage in matching Dark Grey leather.

Since its delivery to the Bay Area of California during early 2005, this Carrera GT has lived a life of careful use among a short chain of enthusiast owners. A service invoice from Porsche Sugar Land in Texas, dated March 2025 and totaling $45,194, documents a major service that included replacing all fluids, filters, seals, spark plugs, and more. Additionally, the rear main seal was repaired along with the APA3 recall repair, which replaced the trailing arms on both axles. All recommended items were serviced and the Porsche received new tires and a new battery. Lastly, the clutch measurement was reported to be 29.57 millimeters at this time.
