The 2005 Ford Mustang marked the beginning of the fifth generation of the iconic pony car and brought a thoroughly modern interpretation of classic Mustang styling. Built on Fords new D2C platform, the 2005 Mustang featured a design inspired by the first-generation models, with a long hood, short rear deck, and distinctive tri-bar taillights. The GT model was powered by Fords 4.6L modular V8, producing 300 horsepower, and could be paired with either an automatic or manual transmission. The GT Premium trim added a number of comfort and appearance upgrades, while the available convertible body style continued the Mustangs long-standing open-air tradition. The fifth-generation Mustang quickly became popular among enthusiasts for combining modern performance and technology with styling cues that paid tribute to the Mustangs heritage.
