Classic Car Overview

This beautiful SSR was completed in April of 2004 and delivered new by H&J Chevrolet of Kerman, CA on May 25 of the same year. The truck is finished in stealthy Smokin Asphalt Black over Ebony Leather interior and was equipped with the 1SB Preferred Equipment Group: Engine cover décor insert, memory package, heated seats, auto-dimming mirrors, homelink, 6-disk in dash CD stereo with BOSE premium sound. Other options include wood trim accent rails in the cargo bed, and integrated running boards. The total MSRP new was $45,550. The original owner would keep this SSR until 2024 and only accumulated around 1300 miles! We have just acquired the truck from its second owner (a family friend of the original owner) and it now has only 2841 miles. This SSR still looks showroom fresh with no visible wear and tear and still has its original Goodyear Eagle tires, complete owners manuals, window sticker, 2 keys, 2 remotes, sales brochure, a 1:18 die-cast scale model of the original SSR concept vehicle, and new SSR embroidered floor mats. We have just changed the oil and brake fluid and gave it a complete detailing. There are no dents, scrapes, or major defects in the exterior or interior and everything is in good working condition. This is a collector grade SSR that is ready for a new home.

In the Early 2000s there was a Retro-Style rush with American automotive manufacturers and GM was run by Bob Lutz at the time who knew how to get things done. The head of GM Design VP was Wayne Cherry and his vision was to create a modern interpretation of the early 1950s classic pickup that had become the quintessential choice for street-rod custom trucks and to build upon that legacy in a new way. At the Detroit Auto Show in 2000 the SSR (Super Sport Roadster) concept was unveiled to huge fanfare along with 11 other concept vehicles for GM including the Hummer H2. The SSR has a low and wide profile with a power retractable hard top designed by ASC which provided an open-air experience in just 20 seconds and was the only truck with this feature ever built. The motor for the first series was the tried and true LS family 5300 Vortec aluminum V8 which generated 300 HP and 331 ft lbs of torque. The transmission is a Hydra-Matic 4L60-E, 4- Speed automatic. Zero to 60mph times are a respectable 7.7 seconds. The suspesion set up was very sporty with independent front, anti-sway bars, and Bilstein shocks all around. In the rear was a 5-link setup, with a Panhard bar to locate the solid rear axle and also had a Torsen limited slip differential. The steering was 16:1 ratio power rack-and-pinion and brakes were power-assisted anti-lock with 12-inch rotors in the front and 12.8-inch rotors rear. The SSR has a big 25-gallon fuel tank so you can take it on a long journey with plenty of room in the bed for luggage. All SSRs were built at Chevrolets Lancing Craft Centre in Michigan which had produced other special GM products in the past like the EV1 and the Buick Reatta.
