Classic Car Overview

2004 Chevrolet SSR $27,995

Lutz, FL Millenium Yellow · 5.3L V8 · 65,754 miles
The Chevrolet SSR was a fascinating experiment the likes of which we may never see again. It handles like a Camaro, capable of hauling real stuff like a pickup, and has a folding hardtop like a European roadster - all of this wrapped in a V8 drivetrain. Throw in the low production numbers, and you have the recipe for a future classic you can enjoy today and watch its status build over the years.

This 2004 Chevrolet SSR is one of those nicely preserved examples that has obviously led a very good life in the hands of those who appreciate a unique machine. Now that nearly a dozen years have passed since production concluded, we can really begin to appreciate how the SSR blended the iconic Advance Design pickups of the 40s and 50s with modern fender flairs and aggressive stance. In fact, its hard not to recognize all the unique lines of this retro machine thanks to the bold factory Slingshot Yellow. Its deep luster is just another reminder of the good care this SSR has received over the years.

With just the touch of a button, the folding hardtop disappears behind the seats. This reveals the black leather interior, and lets face it, theres arguably no better combination for a bold total package than black and yellow. And more than just look sporty, this has all the right performance-oriented features for both the new and vintage lovers. For example, the dual bucket seats with a waterfall of color in-between reminds us instantly of the first-generation Corvette, and the grippy steering wheel has all the right modern fingertip controls. All of this look terrific today because this SSR has been treated with respect since day one. This also means that the long list of features is still in perfect working order. It includes keyless entry, power locks, power seats, power mirrors, and a Bose AM/FM/CD stereo system that fills the little cockpit with sound at any speed. While the covered and locking bed is large enough to carry really big stuff, its beautifully finished with carpet and wood. In fact, its really just an extremely spacious trunk. Plus, a modern classic means modern safety features like dual front airbags, side airbags, and ABS. But the feature we think youll like the most is the power windows. Combined with the power top, it means you never have to leave the drivers seat to go from coupe-like luxury to a wind-in-you-hair experience. And since this has automatic climate control, you can take the top down all year long without breaking a sweat.

The key to the SSRs performance is a 5.3-liter V8. This motor is related the GMs truck line, but it also has some lightweight performance characteristics, which seems like the perfect blend for this pickup/roadster. There are plenty of performance upgrades available for those who want to take it to the extreme, but with 300 hp already on tap, it would be a bit of a shame altering a car thats been so carefully maintained all its life. Turn the key and it starts instantly; the idle is smooth; and the dual exhaust hums around town like a Camaro with a bed. The four-speed automatic transmission w/overdrive is perfect for in-town or on the highway. Plus, with four-wheel disc brakes and a suspension built more for handling than hauling, youll never get tired of driving this truck. Flashy wheels were part of the factory package, with oversized alloys required to fill those big flared fenders (19-inch front, 20-inch rear) that wear grippy Goodyear tires.

This is the most collectable late-model Chevy around. Its fast, fun, and unique. Now is your time to get this future classic while its irresistibly affordable. Call today!!!
