Classic Car Overview
In 2000 the XKR (both convertible and coupe) debuted with a mesh grille insert, a factory Eaton supercharger on an AJ33S 4.0 V8 at 370 horsepower, and lots of swagger.
Looks aside, the XKR twins were rapid and refined steeds, the AJ33S-V8 delivering gobs of low-end torque and smoothly powerful acceleration with a muffled supercharger whine. The XKR's Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS) provided the composure and comfort Jaguar is famous for along with reasonably sporty handling.
In 2002 thru 2005 the larger Eaton supercharged 4.2-liter AJ34-V8 mated to a 6HP26 six-speed ZF automatic shiftable gearbox with TWO overdrives gave the XKR an improved 400 horsepower and 399 ft.-lb. of torque.
This 2003 fully-optioned silver XKR Coupe was willed to my USAF buddy from the original east coast millionaire owner. My buddy had no use for the car, and since it was excellently maintained, had only 32,000 miles on it, and was showing NO rust or mechanical / electrical problems, I purchased it in June 2021 and relocated it from Virginia to Lubbock, TX. It has been meticulously maintained with new Michelin tire replacements and a new factory headliner. Everything on it works. As a retired Engineer and classic car enthusiast, I have too many vehicles and am selling it to reduce my rental storage costs.
This XKR has continued to provide: Smooth factory supercharged V-8 power; low wind resistance; good gas mileage considering power available; sporty stance; excellent sport handling; luxurious leather comfort, and excellent insulation and sound attenuation. It is truly a classic that anyone would be proud to drive and enjoy.
