Classic Car Overview

All vehicle trades considered including classics and performance. We can assist with financing and shipping as needed.

Chevrolet has offered a factory Corvette Z06 convertible since 2015. However, when the Z06 moniker was revived with the C5 generation, it was only available as a fixed roof coupe. What's an open-air loving motorist to do? Well here is the solution. This is a genuine 2003 Corvette Z06 that has been transformed to a convertible. The result is a 405 hp performance car that will draw more double takes than anything from the era.

As you may know, the C5 platform was designed from the ground-up as a convertible with its hydroformed rails and other advancements. The Z06 fixed roof is just held to the body with adhesive and is not a significant structural component. This contributes to a relatively straightforward conversion using factory parts, with the primary downsides being weight and aerodynamics (much like any other C5 convertible). Additionally, Chevrolet made the Z06 with the race track in mind, but some venues will not allow a convertible without a roll bar. So keep it on the street.

This car shows 59k miles and remains finished in its factory black paint. It has been fitted with an aftermarket hood with more contours than the OEM piece. To be sure, while some people might just add Z06 badges and quarter panel intakes to a regular convertible, these are all originals! The black convertible top is easy to use and works just like any other C5 convertible with the same fitment. Wheel have been changed to black C7 Z06 style pieces wearing Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires from 2016. Sizes are 265/35ZR18 in front and 305/30ZR19 in back.

For 2003 the factory 5.7L LS6 engine carried ratings of 405 hp and 400 ft-lb of torque, having been increased the previous year. Everything remains stock with the exception of a BPP air intake and Borla exhaust tips. Note all emissions equipment remains in place. The 6-speed transmission is very smooth and feeds the original 3.42 limited slip rear end. Recent service includes an oil change, new serpentine belts, and a coolant flush. It also has a new battery and new front brake pads / rotors.

The black leather interior is highlighted by the bucket seats with Z06 emblems on the headrests. They are especially prominent with the top down which really throws people off! The gauges also have special Z06 badging and feature a 6500rpm tachometer redline. Everything works properly including the head-up display. There is also dual zone HVAC which is another standard item on the Z06. An aftermarket shift handle is present along with sill plate covers and floor mats.

The C5 Z06 remains a remarkable car with good value. It offers a great combination of looks, performance, and reliability. But while a regular Z06 is fairly easy to find, this convertible version is a different story. Its a rare find that any automotive enthusiast can appreciate. Just be prepared to answer a lot of questions wherever you go.
