Classic Car Overview

This car would be a great way to turn some heads both on the street, and at car shows. And if your name is Elwood, you might even use it to drive to Joliet to pick up your brother. Just be ready to explain to him how you traded the old Bluesmobile for a microphone. There have almost always been Police interceptor versions of cars used by law enforcement for high speed pursuit. As the performance of average street cars kept improving, just putting a bigger motor in a Caprice wasnt cutting it anymore, so we ended up with Cops in Camaros. And this one with its B4C Special Service Package can be yours. It is basically a Z28 in RS trim. No need for the hood scoops or high-profile rear wings on these cars. It does, however, have one of those paint jobs that is immediately identifiable from a distance and causes rapid increases in pulse rate as it approaches. As a civilian though, turning the lights on would probably get you in trouble with a real one of these unless you were at a car show when you did it. It has a Eureka California Highway Patrol crest on the doors, Safety Service and Security lettered onto the rear fenders, and Highway Patrol in gold letters across the back. Open the door and you will find a nice Gray interior that is totally stock. Sorry, no cop stuff in here to play with. The molded door panel has a long armrest that is comfortable while you are cruising, high speed or otherwise, with power window and lock switches at your fingertips. The power operated bucket seats are comfortable in cloth with pleated seating surfaces and substantial side bolsters for good support while in high speed pursuit of fun. The beefy steering wheel is molded so that it feels good in your hands and provides good control. The dash has a 150 MPH speedometer along with a tach in the center with gauges for water temp, oil pressure, voltage and fuel across the bottom. The center console has a 35th Anniversary Camaro badge just above the FM/CD player. Below that is the ventilation controls which include A/C and a shifter for the 4-speed automatic trans rises from the center console. Open the hood and you will find a 5.7-liter LS1 V8 Police Interceptor motor nestled down in the engine bay. Alas, it is the same powerhouse with over 300 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque that is available to all Camaro buyers, but with a couple additional heavy-duty features added for improved durability and reliability in light of its intended mission. A power steering oil cooler keeps temps under control while under pressure and a high output alternator may not be needed without all the extra cop stuff drawing off of it, but that just means it isnt working as hard these days and should last longer. Power flows back through that 4-speed trans to a posi rear end with 3.23 gearing and power, anti-lock, 4-wheel disc brakes insure that you can haul this ride down from speed in a hurry. The rubber meets the road through 245/50R16 tires mounted all around on alloy wheels with Camaro center caps. This car is a great driver for someone who wants something a little bit different and wants to turn some heads at the car shows. Come on down and check it out.
