Dealer Disclosure
I strive to describe this vehicle accurately with detailed photos, but it is a used, classic vehicle sold as-is with no warranties. As I am not a professional mechanic, undetected issues may exist. A pre-purchase inspection by a qualified expert is strongly recommended, and I'm happy to assist with this. If you're new to classic cars, please reach out. I have over 40 years of experience and am delighted to share insights.

Classic Car Overview

Offered for sale is this beautifully maintained 2001 Porsche Boxster, a low-mileage example showing just 62K original miles. Sold new through Braman Porsche of Palm Beach in Florida in Black over a Savanna Beige leather interior, this 986 spent its first four years in Florida before relocating to California, where it has remained for the past twenty years. Accompanying the car is a collection of documentation including a CARFAX Vehicle History Report, current owners service records, and a detailed lifetime maintenance summary using current records and the Carfax report. Finding an early Boxster with this level of documentation and recent specialist maintenance has become increasingly uncommon.

Following its purchase in late 2024, the current owner, a longtime Porsche enthusiast, entrusted the car to Hammond Autowerks, one of Northern California's premier independent Porsche specialists, investing nearly $5,700 in preventative maintenance and thoughtful upgrades. Recent work includes fresh engine oil and filter service, battery replacement, passenger window regulator replacement, automatic transmission fluid and filter service, front trunk strut replacement, and a comprehensive inspection. During the June 2025 service, the owner specifically requested that the engine oil be inspected for metallic debris as a precaution regarding the IMS bearing. Hammond Autowerks reported finding no metallic contamination, providing additional confidence in the engine's condition. The most recent inspection also confirmed the tires, brake pads, brake fluid, and battery are all in excellent condition, with no engine fault codes present.

The exterior presents beautifully with excellent Black paint that retains a deep shine and shows extremely well throughout. The body is straight with excellent panel fit, while the factory Porsche alloy wheels remain clean and free from significant curb damage. The headlights, taillights, and exterior lenses are all clear and present nicely, and the trim and weatherstripping remain in excellent condition. The original factory option sticker is still present beneath the front luggage compartment lid. The power convertible top is in good condition, operates flawlessly, and seals tightly against the windshield and side windows, giving the car a solid, weather-tight feel. The CARFAX reflects one minor accident in 2006 in which the vehicle reportedly struck a stationary object with no airbag deployment. Based on our inspection, we suspect the repair was limited to a bumper cover, as we were unable to find evidence of paintwork on the body.

The interior is exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well preserved, reflecting the car's low original mileage and careful ownership. The Savanna Beige leather seats present beautifully throughout, with the driver's seat showing only the expected minor wear consistent with age while remaining soft, supportive, and very comfortable. The passenger seat, door panels, dashboard, center console, carpeting, and interior trim are all in very good condition. All interior systems are in excellent working order, including the gauges, power windows, power mirrors, power locks, cruise control, and power convertible top. The air conditioning blows ice cold, while the heater functions exactly as it should.

One of the nicest features of the car is the professionally installed Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus (PCCM+) infotainment system. Rather than installing an aftermarket stereo, the previous owner chose Porsche's factory-engineered solution for the 986, providing Bluetooth hands-free calling, Bluetooth audio streaming, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto (where supported), USB connectivity, navigation, SiriusXM capability, and modern audio controls while maintaining a factory-correct appearance. Installed by Hammond Autowerks at a cost of approximately $2,350, it is one of the most desirable upgrades available for an early Boxster. Even better, the original factory Porsche radio, mounting brackets, trim pieces, switches, and related installation components are all included with the sale, allowing the next owner to return the car to its original configuration if desired. A genuine set of Coco floor mats adds a tasteful finishing touch to the cabin. The included master key starts and operates the vehicle normally; however, the remote locking electronics are no longer present inside the key housing, so it functions as a conventional key for ignition and manual door locking.

Out on the road, this Boxster drives exactly as a properly maintained, low-mileage Porsche should. The 2.7-liter flat-six starts easily, idles smoothly, and delivers excellent power throughout the rev range. The Tiptronic automatic transmission shifts smoothly through all of the gears, the steering is precise, the suspension feels composed, and the brakes inspire confidence. The car tracks straight down the road and has a solid, well-built feel that reminds you why these early Boxsters have developed such a loyal following. Whether you're carving through your favorite back road or enjoying a relaxing coastal drive with the top down, it's an exceptionally rewarding sports car to drive.

With its low original mileage, twenty years of California ownership, extensive documented service history, nearly $5,700 in recent specialist maintenance, desirable Porsche PCCM+ upgrade, and outstanding overall presentation, this 2001 Porsche Boxster represents an excellent opportunity to own one of Porsche's most enjoyable open-top sports cars. It has clearly been cared for throughout its life and is ready to be driven and enjoyed by its next owner.
