The Ferrari 550 Maranello signaled the return to a front-engine chassis layout for the Italian automakers flagship 12-cylinder grand tourer after two decades with a mid-engine model at the top of the production-car lineup. Any lingering doubts over the luxurious coupes capabilities relative to the outgoing F512M evaporated when the 550 Maranello set multiple production-car speed records in 1998. Benefitting from advances in aerodynamics, an electronically variable suspension, and a 5.5-liter V-12 engine paired with a rear-mounted six-speed manual transaxle for ideal weight distribution, it offered performance nearly on par with Ferraris F40 supercar of less than a decade prior while accommodating two occupants in ultimate comfort and luxury. Ferrari produced 3,715 examples from 1996 through 2001.

This 2001 550 Maranello left the factory finished as it is today in highly attractive Blu Pozzi, a relatively rare color named in honor of influential French racing driver and official Ferrari importer Charles Pozzi, whose teams often campaigned cars with blue livery, including a 512 BB LM at the 1982 24 Hours of Le Mans. The tan leather interior features dark-blue seat inserts and an optional quilted luggage shelf, also in dark blue leather, patterned after that of the 250 GT Lusso from the 1960s. Other factory options include Daytona seats, Barchetta-style modular wheels, and Ferrari shields. Originally delivered to Ferrari of Scottsdale, Arizona, in July 2001, service records on file dating back to 2006 attest to its mechanical upkeep.

In 2011, a Dallas, Texas-based owner had Northwood Performance Inc. carry out a timing belt service, the invoice for which logged 17,102 miles at the time. In 2014, a subsequent owner would have the V-12s cylinder heads and associated mechanicals refurbished.

The previous owner would acquire the Ferrari in 2018 and have Ferrari Motor Service of Fountain Hills, Arizona, rebuild the engine. A November 2018 invoice for the work totaling $25,402 logged mileage of 22,951 miles. Other work commissioned by the previous owner included installing new Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires in April 2019, having the alternator rebuilt, radiator repaired, fuel tank refurbished, and a previously installed Tubi exhaust replaced with a stock system.

The Ferrari has continued to benefit from conscientious maintenance since the consignor acquired it in January 2022. RMT Motorsports of Yorba Linda, California, replaced the battery in August 2024 and performed an annual service in February 2025, along with installing new Michelin tires, front and rear rubber brake hoses, and a Fabspeed Resonator Bypass X-Pipe for the exhaust system. In October 2025, RMT Motorsports carried out a timing belt service.

Now offered with fewer than 30,000 miles on the odometer as of cataloguing time, this beautifully specified 550 Maranello, with service invoices dating back to 2006, is ready for a new caretaker to enjoy putting its sonorous V-12 and gated-manual six-speed through their paces.
