After an 18-year hiatus, BMW has revived the 8 Series name with the BMW Concept 8 Series. The automaker's new flagship model could help the manufacturer compete against Mercedes-Benz, which overtook BMW last year as the world's largest luxury automaker.

Given that the 21st century has seen a sort of return to the roots aspect for the Mustang, it was probably only a matter of time before the Boss 302 made a return. Over the last few years there's been steady and growing interest in the concept of a new-age Trans Am Special.

Classic Car Overview

2000 Porsche Boxster Roadster For Sale
The Porsche Boxster is a mid-engined two-seater roadster. It was Porsches first road vehicle to be originally designed as a roadster since the 550 Spyder, which today sells for around $1 million dollars! The first-generation Boxster (the 986) was introduced in late 1996; it was powered by a 2.5-litre flat six-cylinder engine. The design was heavily influenced by the 1992 Boxster Concept. In 2000, the base model was upgraded to a 2.7-litre engine.
The Boxster was Porsches biggest volume seller from its introduction in 1996 (not counting SUVs). The Boxsters name is derived from the word boxer, referring to the vehicles flat or boxer engine, and the word roadster, referring to the vehicles two-seater capacity and convertible top.
The beautiful design of the Boxster is no coincidence: it was inspired by the legendary Porsche 356 Cabriolet, Speedster, and 550 Spyder, cars that today are only traded by the most serious collectors (e.g., Jerry Seinfeld, Jay Leno). The original Boxster had the same bonnet, front wings, headlights, interior and engine architecture as its bigger brother, the 911. From a distance they are easy to mistake for one another. But the Boxster stands proudly on its own. Like the 911, it uses a a water-cooled, horizontally opposed (flat), six-cylinder engine. In the Boxster, it is placed mid-engine, while in the 911, rear-engine. The flat, mid-engine layout provides a low center of gravity, near-perfect weight distribution, and neutral handling.
The model received a very minor facelift in 2002, consisting mostly of changing the colors of some of the lenses on various lights, the wheels and bumpers, so if youre a purist, this 2000 model is the original design with the advantage of the later engine and glass rear window. Not to mention that it has a removable factory hardtop (a $3500 option) in a truly pleasing design. Rarely does a car look as good with both the soft or hard tops. One other amazing aspect of the Boxster is that it has two (2) trunks, which will not only fascinate people at the shopping center (wheres the engine?); it carries car more baggage than any sports car of its size.
I found this particular car for my neighbor many years ago in pristine, extremely low mileage condition, and he has maintained it as such with my assistance. For example, we had the intermediate shaft bearing changed, a preventative step to resolve what on rare occasions has proven defective on some early Boxsters (not this particular car). Naturally, we have done all proper regular maintenance, using only Porsche mechanics and Porsche-approved fluids and filters. One reason he purchased this particular car is that it is the rare Tiptronic version (another $3000 option), which functions as a regular automatic, but with its steering wheel paddle shifters, transforms into the category of drivetrain used exclusively in race cars today. Many modern 911s feature this type of transmission. This makes the car useful to non-stick drivers and to those who often find themselves in traffic, not to mention that auto-shifters are usually faster than their manual counterparts.
Everything works properly on this car, from the power steering, power 4-wheel disc brakes, power windows, power seats, mirrors, stereo, electrics, etc. It has only 57k documented miles, which is less than 3k per year. This is borne out by the CarFax and that it has been a local, Mattituck car, used only in the area and on nice days. So there it is: a timeless design from one of the most respected auto manufacturers in history in pristine original condition with most of its useful life ahead of it, selling for a fraction of what a new one would cost today (Todays MSRP = $60-$80k)
