The 2000 Pontiac Bonneville was part of the Bonnevilles eighth generation, which was introduced for the 1992 model year and continued through 1999 before the completely redesigned ninth-generation Bonneville arrived for 2000. The new Bonneville featured a more modern exterior design and was built on GMs G platform, sharing its basic architecture with several other GM vehicles. The SSEi served as the performance-oriented Bonneville trim and was distinguished by its supercharged 3.8-liter V6, giving the large sedan a combination of strong performance and comfortable everyday drivability.
