2000 Honda S2000
After an 18-year hiatus, BMW has revived the 8 Series name with the BMW Concept 8 Series. The automaker's new flagship model could help the manufacturer compete against Mercedes-Benz, which overtook BMW last year as the world's largest luxury automaker.
Given that the 21st century has seen a sort of return to the roots aspect for the Mustang, it was probably only a matter of time before the Boss 302 made a return. Over the last few years there's been steady and growing interest in the concept of a new-age Trans Am Special.
Classic Car Overview
This is a very rare opportunity to purchase whathas to be one of the lowest mileage, cleanest condition first year AP1 HondaS2000's left in the country. This car has been meticulously maintained andgarage kept its entire life and has literally seen rain less than a handful oftimes. It was always a fair weather weekend car and was never used forcommuting or driven in the city. It has always been kept out in the country andmostly used on local back roads with the occasional trip down skyline drive.While that may sound like the typical catch phrase for any seller of a classicsportscar that is no exaggeration in this case. As the vehicle history reportshows the car is verified 2 owners and has no open recalls or any sort ofaccident history whatsoever. Every panel, fastener, interior part, etc is factoryoriginal. This car has literally next to NO signs that it has ever been drivenhard or has ever seen rain or a dirt road as the video of the undercarriageshows. Other than the fluids, wiper blades, and tires every other part on thecar is factory original.
There are 4 very minor cosmetic flaws aftergoing over the car with a fine tooth comb that we have found inside and out asshown in the pictures. There is a small rock chip on the hood in the clearcoat, a very small 1/2" scratch on the rear of the bumper, there is a tabthat appears to be cracked on the bottom mounting surface of the bumpersplitter, and a scrape on the lower crossmember in front of the reardifferential. Other than that this car is essentially museum quality andidentical to the day it rolled off the assembly line in the same plant thefabled NSX was made in Takanezawa, Japan.
This one has had the rear axle nuts retorqued assoon as we got the car and we have not inspected the valve spring retainers asthat is typically something to look at on higher mileage cars or ones that arebeing driven hard regularly or have seen track time. Every single function ofthe car works perfectly including the roof, air conditioning, radio, cruisecontrol, lights, etc. The car was last inspected 10-16-21 and just had a fulloil change with Amsoil 10W30 full synthetic with a Wix Performance filter justprior to that when we acquired it. The car has had less than 500 miles put onit since the oil change and inspection.
We acquired this car from an older car collectorwho was selling his bike to our dealership. I caught a glimpse of what appearedto be the shape of an S2000 under a dust cover in the corner amongst the vastarray of muscle cars he had in an impressive private showroom. After asking fora peek at the car under the cover I was explained that it was his wife's carwhich didn't get used much. I strongly urged him to convince her to let it goand after some negotiations the next day, the car was mine and a teenagefantasy was fulfilled. I had every intention of keeping this car for mypersonal use but it's too nice to be driven regularly and the one time I gotstuck in a rain storm it made me realize this should be in a collectionsomewhere it can be maintained in the near pristine condition it's currently inand should be appreciated by someone who knows the value of these cars. Thiscar is truly an investment at this point as these cars have nearly doubled invalue over the past 2 years and will continue to follow the trend of manyJapanese cars which are reaching 6 digit figures for clean low mileage originalexamples such as the Supra, NSX, RX7, etc. If you take the time to look at thevideos as well as the pictures of the undercarriage and engine compartment youwill understand how rare of an opportunity this is to own a piece of Japaneseperformance car history that's as close to new as you can get for a 22 year oldused vehicle.
If you are still reading this far down in thedescription you most likely already know how special of a car the S2000 was andhow there will never be another truly analogue drivers car made like thisagain. This was one of the most perfect blends of power, weight, and agilityall rolled up into an extremely well built gorgeous package with timeless linesthat still look new 20 years later. When comparing the build quality of this tomany other Japanese sports cars of the era there is no comparison. Even thehighly regarded Supra of the late 90s, WRX STi, RX7 or RX8, etc all feelcheaply made and look like their was much less attention to detail incomparison. Honda has always been famous for having a lot of pride in theirflagship vehicles and this was certainly one of their most special projects ofthe past 2 decades. This car also had many innovative features for the timelike the push to start button ignition, HID projector headlights, full digitaldash, etc. This car was also a technical marvel when it came to the performanceparts hiding underneath that beautiful Silverstone metallic bodywork having anearly perfect 50/50 weight distribution achieved by mounting the engine nearlyunder the dash for a perfect center of gravity as well has having the highesthorsepower per liter of any naturally aspirated production engine at the timewith VTEC and all of Honda's other tricks of the trade at the time managing tosqueeze out nearly 250 horsepower in stock trim. The car used independent rearsuspension with a Torsen style limited slip diff to keep it planted and verycomposed at race track speeds. The best part of all is that at the end of theday you are still dealing with a tried and true Honda that will last for 100'sof 1000's of miles with nothing more than oil changes and some minor routinemaintenance. No crazy expensive services to deal with, no exotic one off parts,no German electronics to worry about when the next one will set off a checkengine light or leave you stranded on the side of the road, nothing. This is acar that if driven normally will last a lifetime or if driven the way it wasintended or put on a track will still outlast almost any other car out therewith some minor modifications and upgrades.
