1969 ZL1 CAMARO

The story of the ZL1 Camaro, fitted with that rarest of the rare, all-aluminum 427 big-block V-8, is one that has often been told: How only 69 were made, how they exploited the GM option-ordering system, and how they've become the Camaro guy's ultimate Camaro.

Classic Car Overview

What we have here is an extremely rare example of American muscle crafted in Quebec. The fourth generation Camaro was not the highest volume selling because 1998 America was preoccupied with Whitehouse blowies, Spongebob Squarepants, and Y2K, leaving its car senses in disarray. The nation was also mourning Sonny Bono and Frank Sinatra.

The best selling cars during these dark days were the likes of Camrys, Accords, and Taureseses. It’s a commonly known fact that no one has ever gotten laid because they owned one of those three except one guy named Dave, but he had a SHO, and some good weed to boot. I’m not saying this can help everyone, but more than the top drops with this.

This beauty is as unmolested as an altargirl, staying 100% pure and original. A quick nationwide search reveals exactly zero cars like this for sale. Yeah, sure, there are nice convertibles, and yes, a bunch of guidoesque Z28 t-topped rides around. But the Super-Sport badge is rare and an SS convertible of this quality should be cherished like a 30 year old bourbon.

A lifetime Northeast Ohio resident that’s never seen snow, I haven’t had a whisper of an issue in 7 years. The most trouble I had was the fall of 2013 when I forgot how to put the top up for the first time. I’ve put the top up and down like clock work spring and fall for seven years. Besides that it’s been up for car washes, and one autumn night that got colder than we planned for.
