Classic Car Overview
For consignment, a go anywhere in style D-90 Defender. The 90 designation comes from the wheelbase which is actually nearly 93 inches, but whos measuring? The consignor is the 2nd owner and they had a frame off restoration completed between 2006 - 2008. It has been garage kept and never 4x4d as well as a good polish job every year to keep things spit shined. Paint and chrome are all nearly perfect. ( I cannot say perfect as someone will spot a microdot then make a big stink on Ebay motors where ALL the experts reside....) Trust me, its spotless. Please note, this vehicle is sold with a clear and clean Pennsylvania tite, however, the CarFax does show a rebuilt title and mileage not actual branding occurring in July of 2002. This branding followed the vehicle when it moved to Virginia, but once it came to reside in PA the reconstructed branding was removed. So there is a possibility of title washing. Please do your own research on this and verify this vehicle is legal to register in your country, state, province, or territory. Exterior Small but mighty for this 4x4 truck with its front end guard in black which wraps the grille and sides of the front quarters. Behind the trucks black grille with a single headlight on either side along with a round turn signal. A black steel bumper is below. The al-UUU-minium, (as the Brits say, and when in Rome...), truck and its panels are bathed in pristine white paint and shows well minded gaps with more black accenting on the plastic fender flares, door handles, tube like running board and black canvas top. This top can be completely removed or it has plenty of zip off windows which will let the outside in if you want. On back, another tubular black bumper with a hitch mount and tail lights that have black guards attached to them. 15-inch shiny wheels are wrapped in LT265/75R16s all around. Interior Charcoal gray for this interior with rugged utilitarian looking doors with a large edge actuator, central pull and a lower storage pouch. Even the speaker has a guard! As we slip inside the charcoal broadcloth seats which are covered with gray seat coverings. The seats appear in good condition. A wide bodied central console is between the covered seats and has a spacious glove box, shift levers and ashtray, (sorry ash receptacle to be PC). The simple designed dash all in black has all the essential gauges to monitor this trucks workings, and the original steering wheel fronts the dash. Charcoal gray carpeting is showing on the floors and rubber mats are protecting these floors. In back is a small pick up-esque bed with seats lining either side. The bed is protected with a factory rubber liner. A swing open rear gate is on, and under the canvas is a solid roll bar mounted firmly into the framing. Drivetrain Under the hood in a slightly patina engine bay sits a 4.2 liter V8. It is fed fossils and atmosphere by EFI, and there is a 4-speed automatic ZF 4HP22 transmission on the back. A 4.285 axle designation weighs in for both the front and rear carriers. Here we go! Just grab the groover. Undercarriage Mostly rust free with just minute spotty rust spots not associated with structure soundness. All black painted and all sound. Radius arm and coil sprung front suspension handles the bumps and for the back a 3 link system with coil springs. Power disc braking is on all 4 corners. A like new stock style exhaust is now in. Drive-Ability It started quickly, however I heard a rattle which the consignor stated is due to a loose media problem in the catalytic converter. This occasionally causes the check engine light to illuminate. The remainder of the drive went swimmingly with all functions working smartly, and a decent 4x4 ride was had by me and my partner in crime who is always along to get out of the office. Plus we can discuss potential problems or issues with these vehicles. All fully restored and all looking great, and due to a test drive talk revealing chink in the armor, and some issues with the title, it would behoove the potential buyer to do some research, just sayin. Still a beautiful classy small wheel base 4x4 and its a Rover. Cheerio!
