The 1996 Corvette LT4 was the highest-performance engine every produced in the standard Corvette before the C5 arrived. Rated at 330 horsepower, the LT4 was only available with a 6-speed manual transmission and gave drivers more power, quicker throttle response, and a more enhanced driving experience than the standard LT1 engine. It was rated by Car & Track Magazine as the best performing sports car and was highlighted to be excellent for the track or everyday driving.
The motor option was the same option built for the Grand Sport Corvette. What makes the LT-4 special today is that it was only offered for one year and marked the end of the C4 Corvette generation. Because of its limited production, 330-horsepower rating, and the final high-performance C4 engine, the LT-4 is the most collectible Corvette of the 80s & 90s.
