Classic Car Overview

All vehicle trades considered including classics and performance. We can assist with financing and shipping as needed.

1996 was the final year for the C4 Corvette, and Chevrolet ended the run with a bang by offering the optional LT4 engine (standard on the Grand Sport version). The LT4 provided a 10% boost in power over the base LT1 and was only available with a 6-speed manual transmission. This Arctic White example is just such a car and offers great bang-for-the-buck for any enthusiast.

With 65k miles and a clean Carfax report, this 3-owner Corvette demonstrates how nicely the C4 lines have aged. The clean, crisp design still looks fresh and is free of any excess or gimmicks. This one appears to have all its original paint and is in very good overall condition, especially for a nearly 30-year-old car. The wheels have been replaced with 5-spoke ZR1 / Collectors Edition pieces wearing Firestone tires from 2021. The original QB6 sawblade style wheels are also included with Nitto tires from 2012. There is also a bra and a car cover.

The heart of this Corvette is the optional LT4 engine which is quickly identified by the red accents and Grand Sport script. It is factory rated at 330 hp and has an extended redline of 6,300 rpm. Note the exhaust features a muffler delete kit which gives a nicer rumble through the resonator; be sure to listen to the walkaround video. This powerplant is backed by the excellent ZF 6-speed manual transmission (a requirement for the LT4 option) which is followed by a 3.45 rear end. The FE1 suspension was softened slightly for 1996 to provide a ride you can live with every day. This Corvette also has the standard J55 high performance brake package for improved performance over earlier C4s.

The black leather interior was the pinnacle of C4 design. This example provides dual power sport seats with air adjustments for upper/middle/lower back and side bolsters. The 1996 dash is cleaned up significantly over previous C4 models, replacing many of the unnatural electronic indicators with traditional style gauges. A great option is the 6-speaker Delco-Bose audio system which is one of the best sounding units ever put in a Corvette. Other features include automatic climate control, heated mirrors, and a power antenna. Note the Passive Keyless Entry feature is not functional.

The C4 Corvette can represent a fantastic deal in the Corvette market. Chevrolet took an extra year of development for this platform (entirely skipping the 1983 model year) which represented the first significant mechanical redesign in 20 years. While the early cars had dubious electronics and inherited the C3 205hp Cross Fire injection engine and T10 4-speed, things were much more advanced by its final year of production. Don't settle for one of the many older, poorly kept offerings. As this car shows, you can buy the best of the breed for a lot less money than you'd think.
