Classic Car Overview
GMCs Sierra and the nearly identical Chevrolet C/Ks had been redone as early 1988 models, in three series: 1500 (1/2 ton), 2500 (3/4 ton), and 3500 (1-ton). C pickups were 2-wheel drive; K indicated Insta-Trac part-time 4WD. The short-bed had a 117.5-inch wheelbase and 6.5-foot bed. Long-bed trucks rode a 131.5-inch wheelbase with 8-foot bed. Extended-cab models had a 141.5-inch wheelbase with 6.5-foot bed, or a 155.5-inch wheelbase with 8-foot bed.
The extended-cab truck is finished in a two-toned Crimson Red and Quicksilver and features chrome bumpers with black rubber impact strips, SLE badging, and black side mirror caps. The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage. Out back, the black bedliner looks great against the crimson finish, and means that you can still use this truck like it was originally intended. And theres enough real estate back there to drag away half of Lowes with you on the weekends. Other touches include the GMC emblem in the front grille, fresh headlights/taillights, and tinted windows that give the truck a mysterious disposition.
The interior features gray cloth upholstery on the front captains chairs and a rear bench seat as well as matching carpets and trim. Amenities include power-adjustable front seats, updated CD/stereo, cruise control, air conditioning, and rubber floor mats. The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 100-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, voltage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer shows just over 79k miles. For 1995 upgrades to interior; a driver-side airbag went into a revised interior, and 4-wheel antilock braking was installed on all models. The new dashboard featured cupholders and rotary climate controls.
Fully detailed and ready to go, the engine bay is as much a show-off piece as a functional machine. The 5.7-liter V8 was factory rated at 210 horsepower and sends power to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Add in power steering, power brakes w/discs up front, and the four-speed automatic transmission w/overdrive, and this Sierra is a fantastic any time cruising pickup.
