Classic Car Overview
To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys Munich event, 18 October 2025.
Offered Without Reserve 100,000 - 140,000 EUR
After the E30-generation M3 broke ground for BMW as a motorsport-derived homologation special, the M3 GT from the succeeding E36 series was conceived with an equally close connection to the racetrack. Just 356 examples of the M3 GT were built to homologate the E36 M3 for FIA and IMSA GT competition. The model was made exclusively in European specification and was powered by a tuned version of the M3s straight-six engine, with more aggressive camshafts and a higher compression ratio returning an improved 295 PS. BMW engineers made the model some 30 kilograms lighter than the regular car, in part thanks to its doors constructed from aluminium.
The M3 GT was offered exclusively in British Racing Green with a Mexico Green Nappa leather interior and is instantly recognisable with its deeper front splitter and higher rear wing. The example offered here boasts just two keepers from new. It was delivered to Germany, with its order fulfilled by Auto Dinkel GmbH of K nigsdorf. The car was completed by the Regensburg factory in March 1995 and delivered to its first owner the following month. The M3 GT joined The Best of M Collection in August 2015 and has been maintained by BMW main dealer Autoleth A/S of Haderslev, Denmark with the accompanying service book noting the last entry in May 2025. The odometer displays 71,426 kilometres at the time of cataloguing and the car is further offered with its factory toolkit and a BMW Classic Birth Certificate.
