Classic Car Overview
For consignment, with its sleek looks, reliable drivetrain choice, and sheer ubiquity, its easy to understand why this ninth-generation Ford F-150 is well on its way to becoming a modern classic. Increasingly, collectors are looking for old school trucks they can actually enjoy from behind the wheel, and perhaps even pitch in from time to time with hauling or towing duties. This is the last generation to show up before the Big Rig era of uber large pickup trucks which are more difficult to drive and more importantly, park! This 1994 F-150 never looked so classic and has been loved just enough to remain nice all the while being used like a truck should be. Exterior Utilizing the worlds first wrap- around aero styled headlight on a truck, this proved wildly popular and is now classic. Throw in the rounded hood and bumper that wraps around the front fenders and we are now in the old school and this is the new cool. This truck is bathed in Currant Red Metallic and is looking good with the exception of a few battle scars earned along the way in the form of dent on the passengers fender, some very slight rust bubbling on the passengers bed wheel well lip and a scratch running down the passengers side. This scratch, according to our consignors son, magically appeared out of nowhere, (ahh the bliss of ignorance). Chrome is on for the bumpers both front and rear, the large mirrors, window trim and handles. No extra bling here, were in XL territory. While we do note some paint fade, typical for the year, we see no heavy rust. Badging is all correct and the rear tailgate opens up into a steel bed showing some scratches but nothing out of what would be considered normal use. 15-inch blacked out and drilled Cragar wheels are wrapped in nearly new Fuzion blackwall rubber. Interior Nice clean medium gray molded plastic and padded vinyl adorn the doors and is highlighted by the Currant Red steel door frames. Black plastic makes up the door actuators and window cranks and both doors are adorned with wing windows...why arent these still a thing? The smooth gray vinyl bench seat, complete with built in headrests, stretches from door to door and remains in very good condition with only slight age related wear. A black and gray dash is nice and clean with plenty of white lettered analog gauges and a digital odometer. In the center of the dash, we see the heater dials and a Kenwood AM/FM/CD player is neatly tucked into the factory radio location. Floating this no nonsense interior is rugged and durable black textured rubber flooring and above is a sagging and slightly torn gray felted headliner. Drivetrain Lifting the large steel hood we see a dusty and patinaed engine bay, but within the gaggle of hoses and wiring, resides a 4.9 liter inline 6-cylinder engine. It has EFI, and a 5-speed manual ZF transmission on the back with a 2.73 geared rear axle. All business and ready to work in the cavernous engine bay. Undercarriage Some surface rust is seen throughout, but its contained mostly to drivetrain and suspension parts. Floor pans and rockers underneath are clean. Radius arm and coil spring suspension is in front, and leaf springs for the back. Power disc brakes are upfront, and power drums in the back. We note dual fuel tanks and new rear shackles for the leaf springs. Drive-Ability A solid runner, plenty of power from the 6 cylinders, good braking and handling was on par with a truck of the era. We didnt notice any issues on our drive but the brake warning and anti-lock warning lights were illuminated, however the truck stopped just fine. We also noted the airbag light was on during our drive. A classic old-style truck before the Big Rig truck design era took over. Good enough to drive on a daily basis, but with some minor troubleshooting and repairs will have this worker bee right back to snuff. 1FTDF15Y2RNB56044 1-USA F-Ford Motor Company T-Truck E-5001 Thru 6000 GVWR F15-F150 Regular Cab 4x2 Y-4.9 Liter V8 EFI 2-Check Digit R-1994 N-Norfolk, VA Assy Plant B56044-Sequential Unit Number
