Exterior Our dark knight is clad in Black paint but this one has accent stripes on the hood that flow back to the intake duct details as if giving the air a runway, (although the ducts are strictly cosmetic). Inset dual headlights flank the nose under which a set of fog lights are mounted. Theres a fantastic detail on this generation in which the front fenders sport an extrusion that bleeds into the side mirrors. Beyond that, the shoulder line is straight until it blends with edges of the rear wing which forms a gap between the integrated connection and sits flat on the decklid. In back, red and white tail lights contrast with the black paint and pick up on the red bowtie next to the ghost Z28 emblem. A very nice black canvas top caps our car and is equipped with a glass window. With that top down, the raked window solidifies the wind defying wedge shape of the car while providing a sizable open cabin. Imperfections are few with some chin scrapes, general scuffs, flex cracks on the bumper cover, and some curb rash. Overall, a very clean presentation on the outside. Interior Streamline by modern Camaro standards, our door panels are clean black plastic with gray cloth inserts, a few well placed buttons, some minor storage on the bottom, and all are in great condition. Two tone black and gray cloth bucket seats have held up well here and indicative of a car thats been pampered. The rear 2+2 share the pattern but offer less side support and a no frills space from which to enjoy the ride. The black leather wrapped steering wheel has low connection points leaving an open rim for maneuverability and framing a simple instrument cluster ahead. Uncomplicated controls are to the right, canted towards the driver, and include A/C knobs and an AM/FM/Cassette radio, framed in black plastic which turns into the center console housing the shifter, and the entire interior looks younger than the 94k miles on the odometer. The gray carpet still looks good and the deep but narrow trunk also shows little use. Drivetrain Under the hood, the 5.7 liter LT1 V8 is tucked under the cowl, rated at 275 horsepower and mated to a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission sending power to the 10 bolt axle with 2.73 gears and the G80 option of Positraction. Power disc brakes are employed on this F-body front and rear. The bay presents very nicely and our consignor states a new OptiSpark has been added along with plugs, wires, and a water pump. Undercarriage Some expected surface rust on heavy metal components including the driveshaft is evident, some residual oil but its no Exxon Valdez situation, and we note some typical soot on the knuckles. Beyond that, a straight forward undercarriage thats relatively clean and fully intact. A single exhaust flows through a FlowMaster muffler which exudes two pipes ending in squarish tips under the bumper cover. Suspension is found to be coil spring up front and coil springs with a torque arma in the back. Drive-Ability This is a tight package, nothing extraneous or over the top. No wild graphics or crazy colors, and this straightforward Z performs the same way. Solid, straight, and powerful. Handling is fantastic and without a manual, you can focus on going fast and holding on! This well cared for unit checks all the boxes in terms of functionality and we note nothing out of place.
