The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. From a cargo carrier with no windows behind the driver's seat to a windowed passenger van with three rows of seats, the possibilities seemed endless.
Classic Car Overview
1993 Jaguar XJS Convertible Jaguar is responsible for some of the most memorable cars ever produced. Its no coincidence that the brands designs tend to age gracefully. And its no coincidence that well-preserved Jaguars always find a dedicated group of fans that are ready and willing to pay top dollar for their favorite vintage. There has been a recent uptick in European cars and if this trend has piqued your interest, this Jaguar is worth a look. This thin line design cat has a wide stance, quick reflexes, good looks, and is well muscled. A no rust example with a fine working convertible top that has rear tinted glass. Snowflake wheels, and upon start up this car just growls at you. Exterior Bathed in Brookland Green this cars exterior paint is well aged, showing dulling areas and scratches. There is no rust present though, and gaps are all good. This car is utilizing chromed bumpers which are wrapped by black rubber, and above the front and back are European style head and taillights. A tan canvas convertible top, which operates flawlessly and has a rear tinted glass window tops off this sleek machine. Sitting on all 4 corners we note snowflake style mag wheels. Interior A swing of the doors reveals Barley colored leather on the door panels. There is a veneer strip near the sill of each door, and it has suffered some water damage resulting in delamination of the veneer. Other areas of the dash that have veneer are intact and nicely preserved and mix well with the barley colored leather. The 2 bucket seats have faded, and well-worn and loose seat covers. We did not take them off, so the actual condition of the leather seats below is unknown. Tan carpet covers the floors and is showing slight staining and dirt. Dash looks clean and toggles were working for all functions. The trunk is nicely preserved with a tan terrycloth covering everything, even the tools are wrapped in it. Drivetrain Under the hood is the original unrestored Inline 6-cylinder 4.0 liter engine. Electronic fuel injection feeds this mill, and a ZF4HP22 4-speed automatic transmission is on back. Undercarriage Some surface rust is noted but mostly unremarkable. Floorpans, and unibody are solid and have a heavy coating of rustproofing. Independent suspension is all around as are power disc brakes. The exhaust system is showing some early signs of rusting beginning. Drive-Ability This car started right up and ran smoothly. It handled all of our nuances on the test track and has a nice cruise. Steering is sharp, and acceleration is fine. I noticed some rear brake grinding noise when I steeped on the brakes, although it stopped the car. Probably in need of some TLC on the visual end, notably with the exterior paint, and some of the worn and damaged surfaces on the interior. A good cleaning and buffing may do the trick for most of it. It is a good smooth runner and has a very nice line...meeYOW!
