Lights! Cameras! Cars!

One thing that the crew at Volo Auto Museum understands is that context is everything. They have gone the extra mile to display each movie car with memorabilia and signage that brings the scene to life. The museum features actual movie props such as Tom Cruise's racing seat from Days Of Thunder.

Classic Car Overview

Offered with No Reserve is this authentic 1993 Ford Thunderbird NASCAR Winston Cup stock car driven by Jimmy Spencer for Bobby Allison Motorsports during the 1993 NASCAR Winston Cup season. Representing a significant era in American stock car racing, this professionally built competition car was campaigned as part of the famed #12 Meineke racing team and carries BAMS No. 10 identification according to its original data plate. Combining racing history, impressive V8 performance, and collector appeal, this Thunderbird presents a rare opportunity to acquire an authentic piece of NASCAR history, all proceeds from this sale will directly support the mission and legacy of the Owls Head Transportation Museum.

Built for top-level NASCAR competition, power comes from a Ford 358ci V8 racing engine reportedly producing more than 720 horsepower at 8,000 RPM. Shifting is handled through a Jerico 4-speed racing transmission. According to information provided by the donor, the car weighs approximately 3,400 pounds and features a 22-gallon fuel cell. Included with the sale are six mounted racing slick tires. The donor further states that the car was restored in 1999 and subsequently used in historic NASCAR racing exhibitions and events prior to its donation to the museum in 2020.

The car presents as an authentic Winston Cup-era race car throughout, retaining the aggressive aerodynamic styling and purpose-built appearance that defined early 1990s NASCAR competition. As expected from a former professional stock car, the interior remains highly functional and competition-focused, featuring race-prepared instrumentation, safety equipment, and period-correct racing components. The overall presentation reflects its history as a genuine competition machine that later transitioned into historic exhibition use.

Mechanically, the Thunderbird is equipped with professional-grade racing hardware throughout and represents the type of purpose-built engineering utilized in NASCARs premier series during the era. The restoration performed in 1999 reportedly allowed the car to participate in vintage racing displays and motorsports events while preserving its historical integrity and connection to Bobby Allison Motorsports.

Nicknamed Mr. Excitement, Jimmy Spencer competed at NASCARs highest level for approximately two decades, earning 478 starts along with 20 top-five finishes, 80 top-ten finishes, and two career victories. Cars directly associated with notable NASCAR drivers and teams continue to generate strong interest among motorsports collectors, particularly examples tied to the highly competitive Winston Cup era of the early 1990s.

Ideal for NASCAR collectors, motorsports museums, vintage racing enthusiasts, or display-focused collections, this documented Bobby Allison Motorsports Thunderbird offers authentic racing pedigree, impressive visual presence, and direct ties to one of NASCARs memorable personalities. Offered with No Reserve, the sale of this historic stock car also benefits the continued programs and collections of the Owls Head Transportation Museum.
