One Owner Z71 350 V8 / 5-Speed

I purchased this Chevrolet K1500 new in 1993. Thirty-three years and approximately 160,000 miles later, I am still its only owner. I also have the original Chevrolet window sticker along with receipts documenting much of its maintenance and repair history.

It has been part of my life in Colorado for more than three decades, and rather than allowing it to deteriorate with age, I have continued to maintain and repair it. I am now selling it because my wife and I are relocating to South Carolina.

The truck is a 1993 Extended Cab SWB Fleetside 4-wheel-drive Silverado, powered by Chevrolet's 350 cubic-inch (5.7-liter) EFI V8 paired with a 5-speed manual transmission with a low first gear and overdrive fifth gear. It has a 3.73 rear axle ratio, locking rear differential, factory Z71 Off-Road Package with underbody skid-plate protection, and high-altitude emissions equipment. In my experience, the truck typically returns approximately 1920 mpg on the highway.

Factory equipment includes cruise control, air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, tilt steering, intermittent wipers, rear-window defogger, deep-tinted rear glass, and the original Garnet Custom Cloth interior. The original factory cassette stereo has been replaced with a Kenwood AM/FM/CD stereo. The truck currently rides on steel wheels, which I chose for their durability.

A Raider bed topper was installed shortly after I purchased the truck new. A protective bed liner was dealer-installed at the time of purchase, so the bed has been protected essentially from the beginning.

Significant work and maintenance have been completed over the years, including a new clutch, tires, A/C work, catalytic converter, new headliner, and numerous other repairs and maintenance items. The chassis is solid with no rust. The truck starts, runs, and drives well and has been extremely dependable. I would not hesitate to get in it and drive it across the country myself.

The Silverado was originally silver-and-maroon two-tone. As the original finish aged and discolored, the truck also sustained cosmetic hail damage to the hood and roof. The hail damage was exterior onlythere was no broken glass, windshield damage, or water intrusion. An insurance claim was filed for hail damage, so this may appear on a vehicle history report.

The damaged areas were professionally repaired, and while the work was being completed, I chose to have the truck refinished in black rather than return it to the original silver-and-maroon two-tone combination. Because of the repaint, the original Z71 exterior decals were not reapplied; however, the truck retains its factory Z71 Off-Road equipment.

A more recent Colorado hailstorm caused several small cosmetic dings in the hood but did not damage the black paint.

Over 33 years, there have been two minor traffic incidents. A driver once rear-ended the truck, with the receiver hitch absorbing the impact without damage to the truck. In a separate incident, another driver merged into the truck, damaging the front bumper pad, which was later repaired. The truck has not sustained major collision damage.

As should be expected with an original 33-year-old truck, there are a few small items still needing attention. The left turn signal operates but does not self-cancel after a left turn. The driver's power door lock is operated with the key because the electric lock does not actuate on that door. The full-size spare tire is included and currently carried in the bed; the original under-bed carrier cable was cut years ago when the previous spare was stolen. There are also normal signs of age and use.

What makes this truck unusual is not that it is perfect. It is that its history is known.

I bought it new.
I have owned it for its entire life.
I know its maintenance and repair history, and I have receipts documenting much of the work performed over the years.
I still have the original Chevrolet window sticker.
And I have continued investing in it rather than allowing it to become another neglected old work truck.
