Classic Car Overview

1993 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 Coupe

For consignment, a 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 coupe with a title verified 69,171 kilometers, or 42,980 miles. The Z24 dressed the pedestrian Cavalier with cladding, wings, and graphics and created a sporty version of an otherwise fleet vehicle.

Exterior
Sportiness is amplified by two stage Victory Red paint and thanks to the late 80s Ford Taurus, front grilles became more streamlined and clean, with the main intake being embedded in the front apron of this sportster. Twin power bulges on the hood might not be mechanically functional, but they go a long way to bolstering the aggressiveness of the car and when coupled with a rear wing, might even ride the line of intimidating at a red light. The body cladding gives a lowering effect, like a GTP race car while 15-inch wheels are understated but directional, the sign sporty intent. Chevrolets call outs during this period are red plastic and theyre all here in nice shape and the Z24 emblem is tri-colored, also period indicative. Imperfections include dings, curb rash, scratches, including some deep on the composite ends, chips, scuffs, and chin scrapes.

Interior
The clean design of the inner doors include black plastic and cloth inserts, along with the door-mounted 3 point seat belt. Somewhere between the automatic seatbelts and airbags, Chevrolet provided this alternative for a short period of time. Inside, charcoal cloth bucket seats are in time capsule good shape and the rear mirrors the color and condition and includes a middle lap belt and a fold down feature to expand trunk capacity. An ergonomic steering wheel would become commonplace, but in the early 90s, this was sporty indeed! It fronts an otherwise basic instrument cluster in great shape, and the center stack houses an AM/FM/Cassette radio featuring state of the art auto reverse and the A/C panel, simple, gray, and plastic. In the center console, a T-shifter moves through a short track cut into the flat plastic panel where a fixed crack is noted. The black carpet looks great and so does the fleece headliner around the sunroof, while the trunk is clean and finished in gray cloth panels.

Drivetrain
Under the hood, a transverse mounted 3.1 liter V6 with 140 horsepower and fuel injection. It presents in clean, driver quality condition and is tied to a TH125C 3-speed automatic transmission that keeps power up front with 3.33 gearing.

Undercarriage
Other than age induced metal color change, the underside also serves as a time capsule with rust free and dry conditions. A single exhaust runs through its original muffler and which emits twin tips, the only location of some surface rust. Power brakes are on board as front disc and rear drum and suspension includes Macpherson struts up front and coil springs on the independent rear.

Drive-Ability
The V6 comes to life without hesitation, and the car delivers what all 273,617 Cavalier buyers expected in 1993; a smooth ride, a comfortable interior, and a reliable ride made just a bit quicker with the Z24 designation. Were on tires from the same year as the car, so were not testing the cars limits, but at pedestrian speeds, it does just fine. With the exception of the trip odometer, all functions in this commuter car work as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

More than half of Cavalier production were coupes and they were marketed to a youthful market with the Z24 appealing to those with a penchant for a sporty appearance, something every American manufacturer offered in one form or another. Chevrolet did it well with the Z24 and online testimonials are filled with nothing but good memories of former owners. Now, you can relive those days with this well preserved, low mileage example.
