The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. An important landmark in the Porsche 911's development was the introduction of the 964 series in 1989. The 964 differed only slightly from its predecessor in appearance, while mechanically, it was another story. Notable changes included a more modern and powerful engine, ABS brakes, power steering, airbags, and air-conditioning. In 1992, Porsche offered a limited-edition Cabriolet in the US called the America Roadster, named after the rare early 356 models. Featuring the Turbo's wide arches, suspension, and brakes, plus Cup wheels, a power top, and other unique convenience options. Power came from the potent Carrera 247 BHP 3.6-liter flat-six.
The magnificent Porsche 964 America Roadster featured here is finished in a stunning color combination of all black, fitted with nearly every available option, and meticulously maintained from new. Just acquired from its second owner, a prominent California collector, accompanying this investment-grade America Roadster are its original manuals, tool roll, service records, and manuals. We are proud to offer this limited production Porsche to the most astute collector investor or enthusiast who understands and appreciates the investment potential of this exquisite example.
