While its styling is just a later revision of the original Duetto, the elements of the ground effect spoilers, the 15-inch phone dial wheels, air-conditioning, power-windows and leather seating injected a contemporary look and feel to an otherwise twenty year old design. Pininfarinas extraordinary design combined with relatively low production numbers have made the car somewhat of a commodity as few are ever for sale. This series Spider came with a 2 liter DOHC engine with electronic Bosch fuel injection, thanks to variable camshaft timing the engine is extremely lively. On both country roads as well as highways, power is more than enough to drive fast. The gearbox has long throws but is very precise. 0-60 is accomplished in approximately 9 seconds and the Spider has a top speed approaching 120 mph. An exceptional example of the last generation Alfa Spider, this particular example has never been used in inclement weather conditions. In its most recent long-term ownership the Alfa has only been used seasonally for touring pleasure on the North Shore of Long Island. For the past fifteen years, this Alfa Spider has been enthusiastically owned by its last caretaker and has been maintained yearly regardless of use.
