Classic Car Overview
Big Blue Wildebeest
Picked this up outside of Washington DC from some friends in the State Department back from a multi-year assignment in South Africa, and had it shipped to Maine.
Wildebeest is a four-wheel drive Land Rover Defender 110 originally purchased, restored, and upgraded in Pretoria, South Africa. While in South Africa, this Defender was given a complete makeover, including an upgraded suspension, 18 inch wheels, and tires; a roof rack; bush wires; light bar; snorkel; air conditioning; full bull bar with winch; a ladder; dual battery system; off-road jack; shovel; and more. She also upgraded to recent-model black leather Land Rover Discovery seats in the front and back. Several additional maintenance-related repairs were also made. Each and every upgrade, repair, etc. has a corresponding invoice that will transfer over with vehicle purchase, including manuals and books.
In 2018, this Defender made the long journey from the Indian Ocean to the Atlantic when she was imported to the United States. This vehicle meets all EPA and DOT requirements (classic car exemption etc). Once settled in her new land, she was whisked away to the shop where she was outfitted with a 3.9L V8 engine with 80,000 miles with new Edelbrock intake manifold and Holley 4-BBI carburetor. (Therefore, the odometer reading of 333k kilometers is not accurate.) Additionally, she received a fresh coat of custom navy blue paint, a brand new fuel tank and fuel system, and a new audio system. Overall she is in very good condition, with little corrosion, on an aluminum frame...
And while nothing is perfect, she is a great starting point for an enthusiast looking for a classic Defender 110.
Not too many of these rare beauties running around the US, no less in Maine, so come see her soon before she goes into winter hibernation.
