For the success achieved across Europe and in Australia, the E30-generation M3 is rightly regarded as one of the great Group A touring cars. To ensure it remained at the front of the grid, BMW Motorsport continued to evolve the recipe with road-going homologation specials. The rarest, most powerful, and most coveted of all is the Sport Evolution. Just 600 were produced, featuring an inline-four engine enlarged by 200 cc to displace 2.5 litres.

Of these 238 horsepower heroes, the car offered here was built in February 1990 and delivered new on 25 May. Finished in Brillantrot (one of only two available colour choices), this M3 was trimmed with a black leather interior featuring the BMW Motorsport tricolour accents. It was also notably specified with air conditioning.

After its first ownership in Italy, from April 1998 the M3 Sport Evolution was registered in the United Kingdom. After spells with three keeper, it was acquired by the vendor in 2013. Invoices on file reflect that between 2014 and 2016, the car was entrusted to renowned specialist Munich Legends for maintenance. Since purchased by the vendor, the BMW has resided in Switzerland and was serviced by official marque dealer Binelli Baar in 2020. The cars odometer displayed 53,118 kilometres at the time of cataloguing.
