VW Kombi Van Seeing Resurgence in Popularity

The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. From a cargo carrier with no windows behind the driver's seat to a windowed passenger van with three rows of seats, the possibilities seemed endless.

Classic Car Overview

A rare opportunity to own a "survivor" Westfalia with deep roots. This 1989 GL model has been in our family for 33 years across only two owners. It is an honest, unmolested example of the classic T3 camper, retaining all its original character and major components.

Proven History:

Ownership: Two owners, 33 years in the same family with maintenance records going back to 1991.

Mileage: 131,579 original miles.

Condition: All original upholstery, 2.1L Wasserboxer engine, and automatic transmission.

The Camper Specs:

Pop-Top: Canvas was professionally replaced 10 years ago and remains in great shape.

Interior: Full Westfalia kitchenette (stove, sink) and original cabinetry. While the upholstery shows some light staining consistent with 30+ years of family trips, it remains intact and comfortable.

Transparency & Maintenance:

Mechanical: The engine starts and runs reliably, with a small amount of oil leakage typical for this vintage. The gas gauge is currently non-functional.

Air Conditioning: The AC system has been decommissioned.

Body: Original Metallic Gray paint. The body has some honest exterior dents from three decades of adventures, but it has never been "flipped" or masked with cheap repairs.

Summary:
This isn't just a van; its been a member of the family. If you are looking for an authentic Westy with a known history and plenty of life left for the next generation of campers, this is it.
