From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.
The no-frills Savoy two-door sedan was home to another engine of considerable repute, the infamous 413 Max Wedge, a Super Stock monster block Chrysler introduced in the spring of 1962.

Engine is original except for a Melling Oil Pump & Timing Chain Set upgrade. Valve covers, intake/exhaust manifold gaskets, oil pan gasket, and front and rear crank seals replaced.
External block heater w/vacuum operated heater valve.
New engine mounts. Polyurethane top dog bone mount upgrade.
Jacobs Ignition coil pack. New Delphi Injectors & Fuel Pump.
130 Amp Iceberg alternator. All battery connections 1 or 2 gauge cables. Starter custom rebuilt.
2 additional electric cooling fans on all aluminum 1 inch core Radiator. New main fan motor. Heater core and blower fan new.
Upgraded Low & High Beam headlights direct wired w/12 ga. to battery power thru separate Bosch relays to eliminate voltage drop.
New 134a Freon air conditioning system including evaporator core and a parallel flow oversized condenser. (Evap core has an access port for commercial cleaner application.) New Compressor and hoses.
TH 440 Automatic 4
spd OD transmission. Rebuilt,
upgraded. Added clutches and mild Gil Younger Trans-Go kit, plus OE fixes for
the TH440. Auxiliary transmission

Remanufactured Rack & Pinion upgraded from FE3 Sport (2.75:1) option to Performance 2.25:1 ratio option. HD PS Cooling Option-New power steering pressure and return hoses.
Brake upgrades: Stainless lines. Custom remanufactured Powermaster III ABS. Stock front calipers. Rear Brakes & Calipers upgraded from 10 to 10.5 inch discs used on ’94 and up Gen 2 W bodies. Lokar custom stainless parking brake cable system.
Suspension Upgrades: New OE rear leaf spring. Complete rebuilt rear suspension. Front & Rear KYB struts. Front & Rear Strut Tower Braces. Front 30mm stock sway bar mounted with all polyurethane bushings and custom reinforced sub-frame mounts. Upgraded front Springs using Code Z springs from 89-90 McLaren Turbo model. Rebuilt front suspension. Ball joints, tie rods, control arm bushings are new. Upgraded to 7/8 rear sway bar using all polyurethane bushings & converted polyurethane frame hanger mounts.
2¼ exhaust with original factory exhaust tips.
Factory Radio recently refurbished. New power antenna motor and mast.
